Dakota Johnson was seen enjoying a laid-back coffee run in Manhattan on Thursday, February 12, looking effortlessly stylish in the winter chill. The 36-year-old actress, best known for her role in the Fifty Shades of Grey series, wore a classic black leather jacket over a cozy gray sweater, paired with black trousers and sturdy boots.

She added a vibrant red scarf that stood out against her mostly neutral outfit, catching the eyes of passersby as she walked with a friend. She completed her look with a leopard-print bag, one of her signature accessories, showing off her unique sense of style.

This casual outing comes shortly after a high-fashion trip to Paris in January, where Johnson made headlines during Spring Haute Couture Week. While in Paris, she attended the Valentino Haute Couture show on January 28, sitting front row as a global ambassador for the brand.

She joined friends like Lily Allen and stars including Kirsten Dunst to support creative director Alessandro Michele. Her bold, pants-free Valentino look captured attention online, highlighting a more daring side of her fashion choices compared to the layered, practical outfit she wore for her coffee run in New York.

On the personal side, Dakota has been moving into a new chapter of her life. She finalized her split from Coldplay frontman Chris Martin in June 2025 after nearly eight years together. Recently, she has been seen with indie-pop musician Role Model, real name Tucker Pillsbury.

The pair sparked romance rumors in December 2025 and were recently spotted holding hands during an intimate dinner in Los Angeles, signaling their relationship is becoming more serious.

Professionally, Johnson is entering a busy period. Fans are anticipating her performance in the thriller Verity, an adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestseller, where she stars alongside Anne Hathaway.

Beyond acting, she is also stepping behind the camera. Her production company, TeaTime Pictures, is preparing her directorial debut, based on a script written by her Cha Cha Real Smooth co-star Vanessa Burghardt. The story follows a young woman navigating life with autism, a project Dakota has said she feels deeply connected to and protective of.

Balancing her fashion work, upcoming film projects, and directing ambitions, Dakota Johnson is proving she is ready to take control of her career. She is exploring more intimate, indie-focused roles and personal storytelling while maintaining her public presence.

“I felt compelled to tell this story myself,” Johnson said about her directorial debut, highlighting her commitment to projects that matter to her.

Do you think Dakota Johnson’s focus on directing and indie-style roles shows she is moving away from the massive commercial spotlight of her early career, or is this just the next stage of her evolution as an artist? Share your thoughts in the comments.
