Dan Slott Comments on the Offer to Write the 'Silk: Spider Society' Series

As you probably know, the Spider-Man fictional universe is a very large one, and while Spider-Man (Peter Parker) is the central characters, there are many other interesting characters from the franchise, some of which have seen a significant rise in popularity in recent years.

One of them is Silk, whose real name is Cindy Moon. Moon is a Korean-American student who gets bitten by the same spider that gave Peter his powers, becoming the superhero Silk in the process; she also was Spider-Woman for a brief period.

Silk was created by comic book legend Dan Slott, as you know, and the legendary author was at one point approached to join the writer’s team of the now (seemingly) shelved Silk: Spider Society series. In a recent chat with the media, Slott commented on that offer.

As series focused on Silk was ordered back in 2022 by Amazon and MGM+. The series was pitched by Amy Pascal, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and was supposed to include a plethora of writers.

Among them was Dan Slott, the character’s creator, who was called by Pascal to join the team. But, Slott wasn’t really up for that, as he explained in a recent talk with the press.

I’m the last person who should be involved in a Silk TV show. You want female writers. You want Korean writers… I’ve apologized for certain aspects of Silk so many times it’s now in her wiki,Slott said in a joking manner.

We don’t really know how all of that would have turned out, but we know that Amazon has given up on the series in the meantime, and that Sony has been trying to pitch it to someone else, but seeing how the SSU is in a strange state at this time, we’re not really hopeful.
