David Beckham Speaks Out After Brooklyn’s Public Family Rift: ‘Children Are Allowed to Make Mistakes’
David Beckham has finally spoken up after his eldest son Brooklyn Beckham’s public attack on the family. The football star appeared on CNBC’s Squawk Box the day after Brooklyn posted a series of accusations against him and Victoria Beckham, though he didn’t directly mention his son.
The timing of the interview led many to think David’s comments were a response to the social media drama. While discussing the dangers of online life, he shared his thoughts on parenting and the challenges kids face in the digital age. “I’ve always spoken about social media, and the power of social media for the good and for the bad,” David said, highlighting both the positives and negatives of the platforms. “We’ve talked about what kids can access these days and it can be dangerous.”
He then offered advice for young people navigating social media, which seemed aimed at Brooklyn’s recent posts. “What I’ve found personally, especially with my kids as well — use it for the right reasons,” he said.
The former England captain also addressed the idea of making mistakes. “They make mistakes. Children are allowed to make mistakes,” he explained. “That’s how they learn.” He added, “That’s what I try to teach my kids, but, you know, you have to sometimes let them make those mistakes as well.”
Brooklyn, 26, had publicly accused his parents of controlling him for most of his life and interfering in his marriage to actress Nicola Peltz. In his Instagram posts, he claimed that his parents had “controlled” him and attempted “endlessly to ruin” his relationship.
He said the family’s public image is “inauthentic” and maintained only through “performative social media posts.” Brooklyn also confirmed that he has no plans to reconcile with his parents. “I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life,” he wrote.

The feud reportedly goes back to Brooklyn and Nicola’s 2022 wedding in Palm Beach, where disagreements over Nicola’s wedding dress caused tension. Sources say the conflict has been brewing for months, and the recent social media posts brought it into the public eye.
David and Victoria Beckham remain prominent figures in their respective fields. David, co-owner of Inter Miami CF, recently made headlines for signing Lionel Messi, boosting the team’s profile worldwide. Victoria Beckham continues to run her fashion label and beauty brand, maintaining her status as a global style icon. Together, they share three other children: Romeo, Cruz, and Harper Seven.
Brooklyn Beckham has been trying to make a name for himself outside the shadow of his famous parents. He created a cooking show called Cookin’ with Brooklyn, worked as a photographer, and modeled in various campaigns. Nicola Peltz Beckham, his wife, is a wealthy actress known for her roles in Bates Motel and Transformers: Age of Extinction, and recently made her directorial debut with the movie Lola.
David’s interview shows a father trying to stay calm amid a very public family conflict. His message was simple: children will make mistakes, and sometimes that’s part of learning and growing.
