David Harbour Teases New Suits and Gear for Heroes in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
David Harbour has shared a small update about Avengers: Doomsday, saying that the heroes in the film will be getting new suits and upgraded gear.
Harbour kept things simple but sounded excited about what fans can expect. He explained that being part of the film also gave him a chance to watch many well-known Marvel characters return and work together on a massive scale. He said, “It’s fun for us to be in it and do our bit, but also have a front-row seat to all these characters we’ve loved for years and watch them do this stuff. It’s just a blast.”
Avengers: Doomsday is an upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film produced by Marvel Studios and AGBO and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It is planned as a major crossover movie and continues the story of the MCU after Avengers: Endgame. The film is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, with a script by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely.
The movie brings together a large group of characters from across different Marvel stories. This includes the Avengers, the Wakandans, the New Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and even the X-Men from earlier film universes. The story focuses on these groups coming together from different worlds to face a major threat.
That threat is Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr. in a new version of the character. In the film’s story setup, Doom becomes a central danger across multiple universes, forcing heroes from different realities to join forces. The film continues the multiverse storyline that has been building in the MCU for several years.
Harbour did not give details about his own character’s plot in the film, but he is part of the ensemble cast. He is expected to return as Red Guardian, a character he first played in Black Widow. Red Guardian is a former Soviet super-soldier who later becomes involved with the wider group of heroes tied to the Black Widow storyline.
In this new Avengers film, Harbour’s comments suggest that the characters will not only return but also appear with updated looks and equipment. The idea of suit upgrades fits with Marvel’s tradition of refreshing character designs for major crossover events. Each new Avengers film often introduces visual changes that reflect new technology, new alliances, or new missions.
Avengers: Doomsday is part of Marvel’s Phase Six plan and follows years of storytelling across multiple films and series. The project was shaped after several changes to the original plan for the MCU’s multiverse storyline. Earlier plans focused on Kang the Conqueror as the main villain, but the direction of the saga shifted, and Doctor Doom was introduced as the new central threat.
Filming for the movie took place between April and September 2025, with production happening at Pinewood Studios in England as well as other international locations.
The film is currently scheduled for release in the United States on December 18. A follow-up film, Avengers: Secret Wars, is already planned for release in 2027.
For now, Harbour’s comments add a small glimpse into what fans can expect, especially the idea that familiar heroes will return with new looks, new gear, and a much bigger conflict than before.
