DC Unveils ‘Absolute Justice’, the First Team-Up Event of the Absolute Universe, From Jason Aaron and Juan Ferreyra
DC’s Absolute Universe has spent the last couple of years building a darker, more brutal mirror of the company’s classic heroes. Each of its flagship titles has focused on a single character, carefully establishing a world where heroes are treated as outsiders and villains often hold the upper hand. Fans have been waiting to see what happens when those characters finally share the same page.
Earlier this year, DC confirmed at ComicsPRO that the line’s first crossover event series was on the way, though no title or creators were named at the time. Speculation about a possible Absolute Justice League team-up or a powerful new enemy has been running ever since.
‘Absolute Justice‘ was revealed at New York Comic Con 2026 during DC’s Absolute DC panel. The series is written by Jason Aaron and illustrated by Juan Ferreyra, and it runs five issues, with a launch in April 2027. A photo of the cover shown on screen at the panel has already begun circulating among fans, and it shows how big the ensemble could be.
The cover shows a glowing green, skull-like apparition looming over a group of heroes, with Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman standing alongside other familiar figures. A man in a suit sits at the center of the composition, holding a bright light. The ‘All In’ logo sits in the corner, tying the series to the larger DC publishing initiative.

The series is meant to bring the heroes of the Absolute Universe together under one roof for the first time. It appears to introduce the Absolute version of DC’s premier superteam, though plot details have been scarce so far. The Absolute Martian Manhunter, J’onn J’onzz, will be the driving force behind assembling the team.
Panel coverage says the creators spent time building each character’s world first rather than rushing into a team-up. The series is also expected to explore heroes in a world that is stacked against them, forcing them to fight even harder. That fits the tone of the line, which has always leaned into struggle rather than comfort.
One of the more reassuring details for readers is that the series will reportedly not interrupt the ongoing Absolute titles. There will be no crossover tie-ins, so fans who follow individual series will not need to chase issues across the line. That should keep the flagship books moving along on their own tracks.
The approach is a notable contrast to many publishing events, which often scatter story beats across multiple books. Here, the creators appear to be keeping the team-up contained in its own miniseries. It makes the event easier to follow for new readers as well.
Aaron is the writer of ‘Absolute Superman’, and Ferreyra is among the artists who have worked on that title, so the pairing is already familiar to the line. The Absolute Universe launched with ‘Absolute Batman’ from Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta, ‘Absolute Wonder Woman’ from Kelly Thompson and Hayden Sherman, and ‘Absolute Superman’ from Aaron, Rafa Sandoval and Ferreyra. Later titles included ‘Absolute Flash’, ‘Absolute Martian Manhunter’ and ‘Absolute Green Lantern’.
That deep bench of talent is on display at the NYCC panel, where creators including Snyder, Aaron, Al Ewing, Che Grayson, Nick Dragotta, Nick Robles, Hayden Sherman, Frank Tieri, Juan Ferreyra and Rafa Sandoval were listed. The panel was moderated by DC executive editor Chris Conroy and group editor Katie Kubert. It was held on Friday, Oct. 9.
The Absolute Universe grew out of DC’s ‘All In’ initiative, which split the main continuity into the Absolute Universe and DC Prime. It has been described as a dark mirror of the main DC Universe, where the established order is turned upside down. Fandom coverage explains that the line was designed to be friendly to new readers, with mostly standalone titles that can be read in any order.
The Absolute Martian Manhunter has been a quiet cornerstone of that world. He is still adjusting to Earth and works alongside his host and partner John Jones. That makes him a surprising but fitting choice to be the glue that holds a superteam together.
The panel also teased major twists for ‘Absolute Batman’. In issue #25, a rebuilt Batman goes after Grimm at his manor, and in issue #26, with art by Cliff Chiang, Barbara Gordon becomes the Bat while searching for what happened to her father. The series takes a one-issue break and returns in January.
With ‘Absolute Justice’ now on the calendar, the line’s biggest team-up is officially coming. Fans will have to wait until spring to see how Aaron and Ferreyra bring the heroes together.
