Brian Cox is joining the second season of Dexter: Resurrection in a chilling new role. The Emmy-winning actor will play Dom Framt, also known as the New York Ripper, a serial killer who terrorized Manhattan years ago. Even though Framt has stopped killing, he continues to haunt the survivors of his crimes in terrifying ways.

The character was first hinted at in the finale of the first season. Dexter Morgan discovered a hidden folder while going through the possessions of the season’s main villain, Leon Prater. The documents revealed Framt’s identity as the infamous Ripper. Instead of keeping the files as trophies, Dexter held onto them as potential targets, setting up a tense and dangerous confrontation for the upcoming season.

Season one picked up after Dexter survived a near-fatal shooting in New York City. He woke up in a hospital to find his son, Harrison, missing. The search for his son took him across the city while he faced new threats and obstacles.

Angel Batista’s investigation into the Bay Harbor Butcher case added more pressure, threatening to expose Dexter’s dark past. Father and son navigated their personal struggles while trying to survive the dangers of New York.

The first season also featured a strong cast, including Uma Thurman as Charley, the meticulous head of security, and Peter Dinklage as the secretive billionaire Leon Prater. With Brian Cox joining the main cast, the story will now explore the dark history of New York while also challenging Dexter in new and dangerous ways.

Outside of Dexter, Cox has been busy with several projects. He is preparing to return to the American stage as Johann Sebastian Bach in The Score, directed by Trevor Nunn, opening at the Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, D.C., this September.

He also recently celebrated his feature film directorial debut with the comedy-drama Glenrothan, starring alongside Alan Cumming. The movie, described as a moving story about family and heritage, will have a wide release in the U.K. and Ireland on April 17.

Fans are already buzzing about what Cox’s presence means for Dexter: Resurrection Season 2. The addition of the New York Ripper promises intense suspense and high stakes. With Dexter’s history as a killer and Framt’s twisted psychological games, the upcoming episodes are expected to be some of the most intense yet.
