Dick Van Dyke’s Latest Workout Video Has Fans Stunned by His Fitness at 100 Years Old
Hollywood has always celebrated its legends for the roles they’ve played, but every so often a star reminds the world that their real-life story is just as compelling as anything they’ve ever performed on screen. That’s exactly what’s happening this week with one of entertainment’s most beloved icons, whose latest social media moment has nothing to do with a new project and everything to do with sheer physical resilience.
Dick Van Dyke celebrated his 100th birthday back in December 2025, and in the months since, he’s made it clear that reaching that milestone hasn’t slowed him down in the slightest. The ‘Mary Poppins’ star has long been open about his commitment to exercise, previously revealing on Ted Danson’s podcast, ‘Where Everybody Knows Your Name’, that he’s kept up a three-day-a-week gym routine for years, complete with stretching, sit-ups and yoga.
That dedication is now going viral all over again. Van Dyke posted a new video to Instagram on Friday, August 28, showing himself working out on an inversion table, captioned “#DVD100 1/2 workout inversion table #keepmoving.” The clip shows him lying on the machine with his arms behind his head and his legs raised, a display of flexibility that quickly caught fans off guard given his age.
Reactions to the video ranged from genuine admiration to lighthearted concern, with commenters split between celebrating his dedication and gently urging him to take it easy. “I’m torn between telling him to keep it up and telling him to go inside because it’s not safe right now,” one fan wrote, while another simply pleaded, “Sir, can you just take it easy, we’ve had a rough week.”
That last comment nods to a broader emotional context surrounding the post, arriving just days after the deaths of Dolly Parton on August 25 and Tim Curry on August 26, both of which had already left fans processing a difficult stretch for the entertainment world. Against that backdrop, Van Dyke’s display of vitality landed as an especially welcome moment of levity for many who follow him online.
Van Dyke has credited much of his longevity to his wife, Arlene Silver, who he’s described as a “health nut” who keeps him energized and motivated. The couple regularly attends the gym together, and Van Dyke has previously joked that dancing between machines rather than simply walking is part of what’s kept him from becoming, in his words, “stove up like my equals.” His commitment to staying active has even impressed fellow performers, with musician Rick Springfield previously recounting an encounter at the same Malibu gym where he watched a then-99-year-old Van Dyke work through every machine before breaking into a spontaneous dance step.
Van Dyke detailed much of his approach to healthy aging in his book, ‘100 Rules for Living to 100: An Optimist’s Guide to a Happy Life’, released in November 2025, where he wrote about hitting the gym three times a week and starting to feel stiff in his joints if he skips too many sessions. That combination of consistency, humor and genuine joy in movement has become as much a part of his public persona in recent years as his decades of work in film and television.
For fans who’ve followed his career since ‘The Dick Van Dyke Show’ and ‘Mary Poppins’, this latest video is just the newest reminder that his signature physical energy hasn’t gone anywhere.
