With GTA 6 still nine months away, fans are eager to learn more about the game. Officially, Rockstar has only shared two trailers and a few screenshots, but leaks and fan speculation are keeping the excitement alive online.

The game will take place in Vice City, part of the larger fictional state of Leonida, which is inspired by Florida.

Earlier this year, Rockstar confirmed some of the areas that will appear in the game, including Vice City, Leonida Keys, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, Grassrivers, and Mount Kalaga National Park.

Recently, fans spotted what looks like an early map of the game. The image shows one of the characters, Brian Heder, with a map on a desk that has some areas circled.

One Reddit user, NoDevelopment894, took the image and edited it so the map could be seen straight on. Sharing the result, they wrote: “Brian Heder’s map, flat-ified. May this inspire something – or nothing at all… I did a subpar job at Photoshopping Brian’s map artwork (removed hand etc) to be more proportional and ‘head on’. What can I say… It looks like a map!”

However, some caution that the map may not be fully accurate. One fan pointed out: “The artists take liberties with the stylised art. They don’t necessarily represent the actual in-game details. This is not from in-engine footage or a screenshot.”

The original poster agreed, noting some roads didn’t align correctly. Others suggested the map could represent a different location since Brian has access to planes in the game.

GTA 6 will follow the story of Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, a criminal couple navigating Leonida. Jason previously worked with local drugrunners after serving in the Army, while Lucia is the first non-optional female protagonist in the series.

They face a state-wide conspiracy after a failed robbery. Other characters include Jason’s friend Cal Hampton, business owner Boobie Ike, music producers Dre’Quan Priest, Bae-Luxe and Roxy, seasoned bank robber Raul Bautista, and Jason’s landlord Brian Heder.

Rockstar first confirmed the game’s development in February 2022. That September, unfinished footage leaked online, which journalists called one of the largest leaks in gaming history.

GTA 6 was officially revealed in December 2023 and is set to launch on May 26, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The game will parody modern American culture, including social media, influencer culture, law enforcement, and memes like Florida Man.

What do you think about the leaked map? Do you believe it’s close to the real game world, or just fan fantasy? Share your thoughts in the comments.
