Disney is said to be working on a new movie called Aurora, which will reportedly give a fresh spin to the classic story of Sleeping Beauty.

The project is described as a reimagining of the fairy tale, but this time, the story will take place in Mexico.

The news comes from film insider Daniel Richtman, who shared that the movie is currently in development. While Disney has not yet made an official announcement, Richtman’s reports are often accurate when it comes to upcoming film projects.

The original Sleeping Beauty was released by Disney in 1959 and has remained one of the studio’s most iconic animated films.

It told the story of Princess Aurora, who falls under a curse that puts her into a deep sleep until she is awakened by true love’s kiss. The tale was later reintroduced through the Maleficent movies starring Angelina Jolie, which told the story from the villain’s perspective.

If Aurora moves forward, it could be another step in Disney’s ongoing effort to revisit and refresh its classic stories for modern audiences, often with more diverse backgrounds and creative twists.
