New details about Avengers: Doomsday have come out after exclusive footage was shown during the Walt Disney presentation at CinemaCon 2026. The trailer was only shown to people at the event, but descriptions shared by outlets like DiscussingFilm quickly spread online.

The preview starts in a broken world. Professor X is seen inside a damaged X-Mansion, watching a strange energy event. The setting looks destroyed, hinting that something serious has already happened before the main story begins.

Soon after, Robert Downey Jr. appears as Doctor Doom, revealing his new role in the Marvel universe. Without his mask, he warns that “something is coming” and says it cannot be stopped. This sets him up as the main threat of the film.

The trailer then shows different groups trying to work together. The Fantastic Four meet with the Avengers, now led by Sam Wilson. There are also scenes of Wakanda and Talokan trying to settle their issues, with characters like Shuri, M’Baku, and Namor involved. Even though they are talking, it is clear there is still tension and mistrust between them.

At the same time, the footage shows fights between heroes. One scene features Gambit facing Shang-Chi, with both using their powers in a fast battle. Another moment shows Yelena meeting Mystique, who changes her appearance before they begin to fight. These scenes suggest that not everyone is united yet.

One of the biggest moments in the trailer involves Thor and Doctor Doom. Thor attacks with lightning and swings Stormbreaker with full force, but Doom stops it with one hand. The scene shows how powerful Doom is and why the heroes are struggling to deal with him.

Thor also plays an emotional role in the trailer. He is seen warning others and asking them to stop fighting each other. He tells them to put their “quarrels aside” and explains that he has seen powerful allies fall before. At one point, he says they need “America”, hinting that help is coming.

The trailer ends with a major moment. Thor looks shocked and says, “It can’t be.” He lifts Mjolnir, and the hammer flies into someone’s hand off-screen. The scene strongly points to the return of Steve Rogers, which could be a huge turning point for the story.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to release on December 18, 2026, and is directed by the Russo Brothers. The film will bring together many characters from across the Marvel universe and seems to focus on a large-scale conflict where alliances are still uncertain.

This looks like Marvel is trying to raise the stakes again after some weaker projects. Doctor Doom feels like a strong villain choice, and moments like stopping Stormbreaker make him look like a real threat. If the story delivers, this could be one of their biggest films in years.
