Doja Cat is once again trending, this time because of a very awkward and funny moment involving her father. The singer shared the story herself through a TikTok video, where she walked fans through a recent conversation that did not go as planned.

According to Doja Cat, she reached out to her father, Dumisani Dlamini, while she was in South Africa for a big show in Pretoria. She wanted him to come see her perform, especially since she was finally in his home country.

But things quickly turned tense. She said he refused the invite and blamed their lack of communication. “On a lighter note, I was messaging my father ’cause he’s here in Africa and he said that he couldn’t make it to my show because I don’t message him enough and I didn’t call him on WhatsApp,” she told her followers.

Instead of arguing, Doja decided to respond in her own way. She played a prank. She sent him a link and told him it would help him get a ticket easily. But the link was not what it seemed. It actually led to explicit adult content. “So I sent him gay p**n and said if you go to this link you can get a ticket super duper easy,”* she admitted in the video.

At first, her father did not realize what he had been sent. He even told her he would let his management team handle the ticket because he was busy rehearsing. Later on, when he finally opened the link, he was confused and surprised.

Doja Cat recalled his reaction, saying he told her, “Darling, what is this? What I’m seeing is gay p**n. Ha ha. It’s like a p***o on my screen.” He even wondered if it was some kind of scam. The whole exchange was funny on the surface, but it also showed that their relationship is still complicated.

Over the years, both Doja Cat and her father have spoken about their distance. He has denied being absent, while she has hinted at a different experience growing up. Even with the drama, Doja Cat is focused on her career right now. She is currently on her Tour Ma Vie World Tour, which started in late 2025.

Her recent show in Pretoria was a big moment, marking her first performance in South Africa. Her latest album Vie has also been doing very well, with songs like Jealous Type getting a lot of attention.
