Dove Cameron Opens up About Engagement at Actor Awards 2026 in Rare Moment
Dove Cameron appeared at the 32nd Annual Actor Awards on Sunday, March 1, at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. The 30-year-old actress has been in the headlines lately, walking the red carpet just weeks after her new series, 56 Days, premiered on Amazon Prime Video.
While the night was all about celebrating acting, Cameron’s engagement to Måneskin frontman Damiano David quickly became a topic of conversation. Speaking with E! News correspondent Justin Sylvester, she reflected on the past few months.
“It’s been beautiful. It’s surreal,” she said. Cameron added that she is now choosing to share less about their relationship. “I’m trying to talk about it less, if I’m honest, because I started talking about it so much. After all, we were so excited. And now I’m like, ‘Maybe I want to keep some of this for myself.’”

The couple has always valued privacy, often preferring quiet, domestic life over the Hollywood spotlight. Cameron previously joked about the way they first met backstage at the VMAs.
“It sounded like a book, like a fan fiction, even though it wasn’t exactly love at first sight,” she said, noting that David was initially standoffish. Cameron and David officially announced their engagement on January 3, following
months of speculation after paparazzi spotted a diamond ring on her hand in late 2025. She shared the news on Instagram with the caption, “My favorite part of being alive. Happy New Year.” In an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, she revealed the proposal happened at home in pajamas, completely surprising her while they were packing for a trip.
Professionally, Cameron is enjoying the success of 56 Days, which premiered on February 18. The eight-episode psychological thriller, based on Catherine Ryan Howard’s novel, stars Cameron as Ciara Wyse and Avan Jogia as Oliver Kennedy.
The story follows a young couple who move in together after meeting in a supermarket, only to discover a decomposed body in their apartment 56 days later. Critics have praised Cameron and Jogia’s intense on-screen chemistry.
Beyond acting, Cameron is preparing for the release of her debut studio album, tentatively titled DC1. The album, set to drop later this year under Columbia Records, follows her 2023 EP Alchemical: Volume 1 and will feature singles like “Hello My Old Lover” and “Whatever You Like,” showcasing a more mature, synth-pop sound.
Fans are also speculating about a possible return to the Descendants universe, with rumors suggesting she may reprise her role as Mal in a new project exploring the character’s legacy.
In addition, Cameron is set to begin production on an independent drama this summer, though details are being kept under wraps. Between her acting, music, and upcoming wedding, Cameron’s year is shaping up to be one of the busiest and most transformative of her life.
