Dragon Ball DAIMA has become a major contender for the title of “Favorite Cartoon” at the 2025 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. This anime, which aired from 2024 to 2025, is the latest addition to the iconic Dragon Ball series.

It also marks the final project from series creator Akira Toriyama, who sadly passed away earlier in 2024. Despite the loss, the series has been a huge hit with fans and continues to make waves in the anime community.

The Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2025 will honor the biggest movies and TV shows from the past year, and Dragon Ball DAIMA is the only anime nominated in the “Favorite Cartoon” category.

The other nominees are Western animations, including SpongeBob SquarePants, Monster High, and Teen Titans Go! Given that anime has become more popular in the West, many fans expected more anime to be nominated, especially since other shows like Solo Leveling were also successful in 2024 and 2025.

It’s not entirely clear why Dragon Ball DAIMA is the only anime on the list. Some speculate that Dragon Ball’s long-standing popularity and its appeal to multiple generations might have played a role.

Others believe that the Kids’ Choice Awards tend to focus on shows that appeal more to children, but the inclusion of shows like The Simpsons challenges this theory.

The awards ceremony is set to take place on June 21, 2025, starting at 8 p.m. Fans will have to wait and see if Dragon Ball DAIMA wins the top spot. Meanwhile, the anime is available for streaming on Netflix, Hulu, and Crunchyroll.
