Drake’s Massive Super Bowl Wager Backfires — Fans Say the ‘Drake Curse’ Doomed the Patriots
Drake suffered a major loss in Super Bowl 2026 after betting $1 million on the New England Patriots to beat the Seattle Seahawks. The rapper, known for hits like “God’s Plan,” revealed on Instagram that he placed the huge wager ahead of the game on February 7.
When the Seahawks won 29-13, fans quickly pointed to the infamous “Drake Curse,” a long-running joke that any team he supports is doomed to lose.
“Bet against me if you dare,” Drake posted alongside proof of his bet, noting he could have won nearly $3 million if the Patriots had pulled off the victory. While some supporters, like actor Mark Wahlberg, praised the decision, others joked that backing the Patriots guaranteed the Seahawks’ win.
Fans commented, “Bro already lost the fight before the battle starts,” and, “Drake, you my guy, but holy you’re cursed when it comes to betting on sports. I know every single time to take the opposite of whoever you think is going to win, that’s how bad it is.”
The “Drake Curse” has followed the musician for years. Past losses include a $60,000 NBA Finals bet against French Montana in 2016, a $1 million bet on the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2025, and another $1 million wager on the Kansas City Chiefs for the 2025 Super Bowl, all of which ended in losses.
Drake addressed the curse in an Instagram interview, joking about his misfortunes while pointing out successes as well. “The Drake Curse is funny to me, honestly. First of all, the Raptors won a championship, so nobody could ever talk to me about the Drake Curse,” he said, referring to Toronto’s 2019 NBA title.
“The Toronto Raptors are NBA Champions. If there was a Drake Curse, Kawhi [Leonard] would’ve never hit that shot, we would’ve never beat the Warriors. There is no Drake curse, but it’s funny, though.”
He also admitted that betting is not his strong suit. “I’m a flawed sports bettor. It’s not my gift,” Drake explained. He added a humorous warning for believers in the curse, saying, “I’m sure if you’re a Drake curse believer, there will be plenty more content in the future to confirm your theories because, for whatever reason, my slips do not cash out.”
Super Bowl fans and social media users had a field day reacting to the loss, making jokes about Drake’s long history of sports-related misfortune. Despite the setback, the rapper’s music career and public persona remain unaffected, and his legendary betting streak continues to entertain fans.
