Drew Barrymore is once again showing that no topic is off-limits when it comes to her personal life. The actress and talk show host recently shared a candid look at her s*x life, revealing that she can go years without being intimate.

The 50-year-old made the comments during a segment on The Drew Barrymore Show, following actor Andrew Garfield’s discussion of his own celibacy while preparing for his role as a Jesuit priest in the 2016 film Silence.

Garfield had mentioned abstaining from s*x for six months to get into character, which Barrymore found relatable—though she joked that six months seemed like nothing compared to her own timeline.

She asked co-host Ross Mathews, what’s wrong with me that six months doesn’t seem very long? When he suggested that going half a year without intimacy was a big deal, Barrymore corrected him, saying simply, Oh, years.

The revelation sparked a wave of support on social media, with fans praising Barrymore for normalizing lower libidos and the choice to remain single. One fan wrote that it’s completely fine to prioritize other aspects of life, while others shared their own experiences going even longer without feeling unfulfilled.

Barrymore later explained on her personal blog that since becoming a single mother, intimate relationships haven’t been a priority. I don’t hate intimacy, she wrote, but I’ve realized that love and s*x are not the same thing.

While her personal life remains private, Barrymore’s professional life is busier than ever. Her production company, Flower Films, is leading the new Charlie’s Angels reboot, and reports suggest the original 2000s trio—Barrymore, Cameron Diaz, and Lucy Liu—are all expected to return.

It’s unclear whether they will be the main leads or mentors for a new generation, but their involvement has already made it one of the year’s most talked-about projects. The script for the reboot is being written by Pete Chiarelli, the writer behind Crazy Rich Asians and The Proposal. Sony Pictures is hoping his mix of heart and humor will revitalize the franchise following the lukewarm reception of the 2019 version.

Barrymore’s talk show continues to be a daytime favorite and has recently been renewed through the 2026-2027 season. Known for her warmth and candid interviewing style, she remains a staple in television with what fans call her army of optimism.

Outside of film and TV, Barrymore continues to work with Orlando Bloom on MSC Cruises campaigns. Their latest series of commercials was filmed aboard the MSC World America and showcases their playful chemistry and friendly transatlantic rivalry.

Between her talk show, her growing beauty and home brands, and her return to Charlie’s Angels as a producer, Barrymore is proving she doesn’t need a romantic partner to lead a full and impactful life. She continues to prioritize her family and career while keeping her personal choices about intimacy and relationships completely her own.
