Ed Sheeran and Chris Hemsworth gave fans a funny and unforgettable moment when they went head-to-head in an impromptu arm-wrestling match. The playful contest happened on Thursday, February 26, after Sheeran arrived in Melbourne to start the Australian leg of his stadium tour.
The video of the match was shared by Hemsworth on social media and quickly went viral. The first round started with Sheeran surprising everyone by getting the upper hand. The singer pinned Hemsworth’s arm down while laughing and teasing the actor, “Do it properly. Go on, go on. He can’t.”
Fans loved seeing Hemsworth, known as the God of Thunder, struggle against the pop star. Hemsworth wasn’t going to let it end there. He called for a rematch with the other arm and dominated the second round. Sheeran laughed as he slid across the table, trying to resist Hemsworth’s strength.
The match wasn’t just for fun—it brought a comic book mural to life. The artwork, created by Wayne Nichols, shows Sheeran battling Hemsworth’s Thor. Nichols shared on Instagram that the project, called Ragnarok and Roll!, was a blast to make. The mural is on display at Marvel Stadium while Sheeran’s Loop Tour runs.
The arm-wrestling moment came as Sheeran kicked off his tour supporting his eighth studio album, Play, released in late 2025. He’s calling this new chapter the “Stereo era,” which focuses on big pop sounds and global collaborations.
In an interview with Last Meals host Josh Scherer, Sheeran said, “I really enjoy my career. I love touring, I love songwriting.” He added that he now has the flexibility to balance his career with family life, including his wife, Cherry, and their two daughters.
Chris Hemsworth is also having a busy year. He recently starred in the crime thriller Crime 101, released on February 13, alongside Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan, and Halle Berry. Hemsworth plays a disciplined jewel thief being chased by Ruffalo’s detective, marking a reunion of the two Marvel co-stars.
Looking ahead, Hemsworth will return as Thor in Avengers: Doomsday, set to hit theaters on December 18. He has also hinted at a fifth solo Thor movie with a new, grounded take on the character.
