A surprise Hollywood reunion at the World Cup had fans talking after Brad Pitt and Edward Norton were spotted together during the United States Men’s National Team’s final group-stage match in California.

The two actors, best known for their roles in the 1999 classic Fight Club, were seen chatting, laughing, and enjoying the game from a stadium hospitality suite.

Their appearance quickly went viral on social media, but the attention was not only because of their friendship. Many fans turned the moment into a joke connected to Fight Club’s famous twist ending.

One viral post asked, “Why is Edward Norton talking to himself?” The joke comes from the movie’s biggest reveal, where Norton’s character, known only as the Narrator, discovers that Tyler Durden, played by Pitt, is actually a different part of his own personality.

In Fight Club, the two characters appear to be separate people for most of the film. However, the story later reveals that Tyler is a creation of the Narrator’s mind. Because of that twist, fans joked that Pitt was not really standing beside Norton at the World Cup and that Norton was simply “talking to himself” again.

The reunion also led some fans to speculate about a possible Fight Club sequel. Photos from the event caused excitement across X, with one user writing, “Fight Club 2 confirmed.” Another fan joked, “Probably talking about how they can’t talk about Fight Club…”

According to reports from the event, Pitt attended the match wearing a retro-style football shirt with white pants, while Norton kept things more casual in a gray outfit. The actors appeared relaxed as they watched the soccer match together.

The World Cup game attracted several other famous faces as well. Former Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff were among those in attendance, along with Second Lady Usha Vance. Hollywood stars including Jessica Alba, Owen Wilson, and Ashton Kutcher were also seen at the stadium. NFL players Puka Nacua and Ty Simpson were also part of the celebrity crowd.

The outing came as Pitt has continued to make headlines outside of his film career. Recently, his daughter Zahara graduated from Spelman College with a degree in psychology. During the ceremony, she gained attention after using the name Zahara Marley Jolie instead of her father’s surname.

Pitt and Angelina Jolie share six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Vivienne and Knox. The former couple began dating in 2004, married in 2014, and separated two years later. Their divorce was finalized in 2024 after a long legal process involving custody matters and their French estate, Château Miraval.

Away from his past marriage, Pitt has been dating jewelry executive Ines de Ramon since 2022. According to a source who spoke with Page Six, de Ramon has become close with Pitt’s family.

“Ines is incredibly close with Brad’s family. They absolutely adore her and she’s been welcomed with open arms from the beginning,” the source said.

The insider added that Pitt’s family sees her as part of their lives but claimed the actor is not planning to marry again at this point. “At this point they basically consider her family and one of their own,” the source explained, while adding that Pitt has “no plans on getting married.”

For now, fans are enjoying the unexpected Fight Club reunion, even if the viral jokes about Norton “talking to himself” are only a reminder of one of cinema’s most memorable twists.
