Ezra Miller Plots Hollywood Comeback in Strange and Bizarre New Interview

Ezra Miller is trying to return to the spotlight after a long break from Hollywood and a string of serious accusations in 2022. These included reports of harassment, grooming, and other troubling behavior that led to major backlash and legal issues.
Now, for the first time in years, Miller is back in front of cameras. They appeared at the Filming Italy Sardegna Festival on June 19 in Cagliari, Italy. According to a local news outlet, they also gave an unusual interview during the event, speaking about their return to the film world and what might come next.
Their comeback began in May when they briefly showed up at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. But instead of stopping for interviews, Miller sprinted past the press line on the red carpet. When asked about that strange moment, Miller said they were only there to support director Lynne Ramsey, a close friend who had directed them in We Need to Talk About Kevin back in 2011.

“I came to Cannes to support one of my closest friends in the world who is Lynne Ramsey — who I think is one of the greatest living filmmakers,” Miller said.
They also shared that Ramsey is working on a new, untitled project, which they expect to be part of. That would likely be their first role in a major film since stepping away from the industry.

Talking about how hard it was to return, Miller admitted that showing up at Cannes was a rough move. “If you’ve been in the woods for three years, I do not recommend going straight to Cannes, where every photographer and every weirdo, every rich genocidal freak be there, you know what I mean?” they said.
In the same interview, Miller spoke openly about the emotional toll of their past few years. They talked about survival, personal growth, and learning who truly supported them through their darkest moments.
“When we go through those crucibles, if we can survive — which was up in the air for me, if I’m being real — we then have that capacity to see other people in their crucibles and just to reach towards them,” they said. “We’ve become very consumed in notions of perception, self-perception, how we’re perceived in the world. I really believe in digging past that and being a friend to people.”
Miller added that the people who stood by them during their tough times will always have their loyalty. But they didn’t hold back on calling out others in Hollywood who they feel turned their backs.
“When you work in this industry, you’ll find yourself in deep, deep relation with a lot of people who do not give a single f— about you, or your well-being, at all,” they said. “Not that I don’t hold a lot of remorse and lamentation for a lot of things that I did and a lot of things that happened in that time, but I’m really, really grateful for the lessons that came with that abyss.”
In my opinion, Ezra Miller’s road back into Hollywood won’t be easy. Their past still raises a lot of questions, and many people are watching to see what happens next. At the same time, it seems like they’re trying to own up to their mistakes and start fresh. What do you think, should Miller get another shot in the industry?
