First Box Office Numbers for ‘Disclosure Day’ Have Dropped
According to reporting from industry sources, Steven Spielberg’s new alien film Disclosure Day has opened with strong early box office numbers worldwide. The first-day total is estimated at around 12 million dollars globally, combining both domestic previews and early international earnings.
The report says the film earned about 6 million dollars from overseas markets on Wednesday. At the same time, domestic preview screenings in North America brought in another estimated 6 million dollars, with showtimes starting in the afternoon. These figures are still early estimates, and final numbers could change once full reporting is complete.
The movie stars Emily Blunt, Colman Domingo, and Josh O’Connor. Early projections suggest the film could reach around 65 million dollars worldwide in its opening period, with approximately 35 million dollars coming from the domestic box office. Industry tracking notes that this would mark a strong start for a Spielberg sci-fi release in the current market.
The film has also received an 82 percent “Certified Fresh” score on Rotten Tomatoes. This places it above some of Spielberg’s earlier science fiction films like War of the Worlds and A.I., both of which hold 76 percent ratings. However, it remains below some of his most critically praised sci-fi work such as Close Encounters of the Third Kind, which holds 91 percent, and Minority Report, which sits at 89 percent.

International performance has been a key driver of the early success. The film is rolling out across 73 markets and more than 50,000 screens in over 21,000 locations. Some key territories have not yet opened, including China and Spain, which are scheduled to release the film later.
In the United Kingdom and Ireland, Disclosure Day earned about 1.2 million dollars on Wednesday alone. It ranked number one in the market with a strong share of total ticket sales. The release will expand further across more locations over the weekend. Industry comparisons suggest it is performing at or above similar openings from recent blockbuster releases.
France also showed strong results, with around 632,000 dollars in earnings on opening day from roughly 73,000 admissions. The film debuted at number one in that market and performed better than several recent sci-fi releases when comparing admissions. Audience ratings in France have also been positive, with a 3.8 out of 5 score reported on AlloCiné.
Mexico delivered another solid opening with 486,000 dollars and a strong market share. The film performed in line with or above other major international releases in similar time frames. Korea also opened strongly with 383,000 dollars, ranking number one during a local cultural box office period and securing a large share of total ticket sales.
Germany and Italy both reported strong debuts as well. Germany brought in 348,000 dollars and Italy earned 336,000 dollars, with both markets ranking the film at number one for the day. Brazil saw a slightly more competitive box office environment, with Disclosure Day opening behind another film but still posting solid early numbers.
Australia also contributed to the global total with nearly 1 million dollars in combined early earnings, including previews and Thursday results. The film ranked number one in the market with a strong share of total box office performance.
Overall, the report suggests that early international response suggests that Disclosure Day is performing steadily across multiple regions, with further growth expected as additional markets open in the coming days.
