Florence Pugh has become one of the most familiar faces in Hollywood in a very short time. She first grabbed attention with intense roles like Midsommar, and she has since moved easily between big studio films and serious dramas. Audiences have seen her as Yelena Belova in Marvel movies and as Jean Tatlock in Oppenheimer.

Even with all that success, Pugh is known for being open and warm when she talks about the people she works with. One actor she often praises is Timothée Chalamet. Their friendship started while filming Little Women, directed by Greta Gerwig, and continued years later on the set of Dune: Part Two.

Pugh sees Chalamet as one of the standout actors of their generation. She once described him as our Leo [DiCaprio], pointing to how fast his career has grown and how natural his talent feels on screen.

She has also spoken about how lucky she feels to be working at the same time as actors like Chalamet, Zendaya, and Austin Butler. In conversations with reporters, she said this group feels different from past Hollywood waves. To her, they are not just stars but real people and close friends who support one another.

That friendship also comes with a lot of jokes. Pugh recently shared, in an interview picked up by several entertainment outlets, that she has a very long and silly nickname for Chalamet. The name came from her grandmother and stuck in her head. She calls him Timothée Chalamala bing bong.

She even admitted that she once said it out loud to him by accident at the 2017 BAFTA Awards. When he looked confused and asked What?, she panicked and replied Nothing! before quickly changing the subject.

Pugh has said this playful side of her comes from childhood. She often talks about growing up loving stories like Little Women and feeling drawn to characters others did not always like. She remembers her grandmother calling Amy March a wicked, wicked girl during bedtime reading, while she quietly rooted for her anyway.

Looking ahead, Pugh is not slowing down. She will star as Cathy Ames in the limited series East of Eden later this year. She is also set to return for Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part Three, keeping her firmly at the center of both blockbuster and prestige projects.
