Florence Pugh has won the Best Actress award at the 2025 Astra Midseason Movie Awards for her role in Thunderbolts*. The announcement came alongside other big wins for the film Sinners, which took home several major awards including Best Picture, Best Actor for Michael B. Jordan, Best Supporting Actress for Hailee Steinfeld, and Best Supporting Actor for Miles Caton, according to The Astra Awards’ official Twitter account.

In Thunderbolts, Pugh returned as Yelena Belova, a character she clearly cares about deeply.

Florence Pugh made headlines ahead of the premiere when she admitted she insisted on performing a jump from Merdeka, the second-tallest building in the world, herself, despite Marvel Studios initially being worried about the risks and insurance issues.

Pugh pushed for it, even discussing the matter with Marvel head Kevin Feige, and won permission to do the stunt. She explained her determination by saying, “It’s our duty as actors to protect and defend your characters and to put in the life. There’s so much that’s on the page, but it’s really what you add to it in the last 20% that actually makes every character that any actor plays.” She added that she welcomed the chance to bring her own unique touches to the movie.

Critics have praised both the film and Pugh’s performance. In addition to the Astra win, Thunderbolts is also nominated for several awards at the upcoming Critics’ Choice Super Awards, including Best Superhero Movie and Best Actress in a Superhero Movie for Pugh.

The movie was also nominated for Favorite Movie at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, with Pugh herself nominated for Favorite Butt-Kicker.

Florence Pugh’s role in Thunderbolts* is already being recognized as a standout, showing her talent and commitment. This latest award is a testament to her hard work and the impact she’s made in the superhero genre.
