‘Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ Star Dies at 42
Floyd Roger Myers Jr., who once played a young version of Will Smith’s character in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, has passed away at the age of 42.
TMZ reported that Myers died from a heart attack at his home in Maryland on Wednesday morning.
His mother, Renee Trice, confirmed the news, sharing that her son had been dealing with heart problems for years. She said it was not his first heart attack and that he had already suffered three others in the last few years. Trice also mentioned that she spoke to her son the night before he died.
Myers had been open about his health issues. In 2023, he revealed on social media that he had fallen into a coma but managed to recover. Sharing a photo from his hospital bed, he wrote, “Just a week ago I was in a coma fighting for my life!! The way my GOD work though. I’m beyond blessed and grateful to be alive!!”
Myers started acting as a child in the early 1990s. He appeared in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air in 1992 as the younger version of Will Smith’s character. That same year, he played young Marlon Jackson in The Jacksons: An American Dream. After that, he took a long break from acting and returned briefly in 2000 for an episode of Young Americans.
In later years, Myers moved away from Hollywood and started his own business cleaning air ducts and dryer vents. On Instagram, he described himself as “Dr. Duct.” He was also involved in a men’s empowerment group he helped start, called The Fellaship Mens Group.
Outside of work, Myers was a proud father of four children, three daughters and one son. Just two months before his death, he celebrated one of his daughters turning ten, writing on social media, “Happy 10th birthday to my baby girl!! The life of the party and always a bright light in the room!!”
Floyd Roger Myers Jr. will be remembered for his early work on TV and for the resilience he showed in facing health challenges.
