From ‘Obsession’ Creators: New Wilderness Grizzly Bear Thriller in the Works
The creative team behind the 2026 horror hit Obsession is moving ahead with a new survival thriller. Capstone Pictures and Teashop Films are once again working together, this time on a project called End of Life.
The new film is described as a wilderness survival story that focuses on a dangerous encounter between a man and a grizzly bear. It continues the team’s interest in high tension, survival-based storytelling, similar in tone to their previous success with Obsession, which became a major box office hit.
The story for End of Life follows a man who is dealing with terminal cancer. He travels to a remote family cabin with the intention of ending his life in peace and isolation. However, his plan is interrupted when a grizzly bear enters the cabin, turning his final days into a fight for survival. The film shifts into a struggle between human vulnerability and nature’s raw power.
Director Sean Ellis is currently in early talks to lead the project. The script is written by Matt Tente. According to the report, the production team includes several producers from different companies. James Harris of Teashop Films is producing along with Cami Winikoff from Sobini Films and Jarrod Murray from Epicenter. Capstone Pictures’ Christian Mercuri is also producing and will help finance the film.
The team is already considering possible actors for the lead role. Names being discussed include Harrison Ford, Pierce Brosnan, and Russell Crowe. These actors are being looked at for their experience in intense dramatic roles. However, no official casting has been confirmed yet, and the final choice is expected to influence when the film is formally announced.
Sean Ellis, who is in talks to direct, is known for his work on films such as Cashback, Metro Manila, Anthropoid, and The Cursed. He first gained attention with his short film Cashback, which was later developed into a full feature. His style often focuses on strong visuals and emotional survival stories.
Writer Matt Tente also has experience in the industry. He previously worked as an assistant to filmmaker Scott Cooper on films like Out of the Furnace and Black Mass. Since then, he has written for companies including Escape Artists, New Republic Pictures, and Will Packer Productions. His involvement in End of Life adds another major step in his writing career.
The Obsession film that inspired this new collaboration became a major success, earning over 238 million dollars worldwide. It is also reported to be the highest-grossing film ever released by Focus Features. That success is one of the reasons the production teams are now working together again on a new high-concept thriller.
At the moment, End of Life is still in early development. Casting decisions and official production timelines have not been finalized. However, with strong producers, an experienced director in talks, and interest from major actors, the project is already generating attention within the film industry.
