FX’s ‘Adults’ Is Back for Season 2, and Critics Are Already Loving the Chaos as Rotten Tomatoes Score Is Revealed

FX has quietly built one of the more refreshing entries in the crowded ensemble comedy space, giving audiences a modern spin on the messy, formative years of adulthood without leaning too hard on nostalgia for shows that came before it. That formula clearly resonated with critics, and now the show’s sophomore run is proving it wasn’t a fluke.

‘Adults‘ first premiered in May 2025, following a group of twenty-somethings navigating life, friendship, and general chaos while sharing an apartment in New York City. Created by Ben Kronengold and Rebecca Shaw and produced by Nick Kroll, the series quickly carved out a niche as a heightened, slightly absurdist take on the everyday wins, losses, and humiliations that come with starting out as a real adult.

That approach has continued to pay off critically as Season 2 gets underway. The series currently holds a strong 100% average Tomatometer score, reflecting the kind of consistent critical praise that’s helped the show stand out in an increasingly crowded streaming landscape.

Season 2 officially kicked off on August 27, following a special prequel episode titled “Marathon Day” that aired in late July and reveals the origin story of the friend group at the heart of the series. Rather than dropping the entire season at once, ‘Adults’ is rolling out its second season on a weekly basis through FXX, with new episodes then becoming available to stream on Hulu the following day.

That staggered release schedule means fans have a full slate of episodes to look forward to over the coming weeks. Episode 3, titled “Talia,” and Episode 4, “Raccoon,” are both set to premiere on September 3, continuing the season’s rhythm of releasing two episodes at a time before eventually settling into a weekly single-episode pace heading toward the finale.

The season is scheduled to wrap with its eighth episode, “Vote for Paul Baker,” which serves as the Season 2 finale and is set to release on September 17. That gives the show roughly three weeks total to unfold this second chapter of the friend group’s ongoing adventures.

For viewers outside the United States, the series remains available through Disney+ in markets like Canada, while digital purchase options are also available through platforms such as Apple TV and Google Play Movies. That international accessibility has helped the show build an audience beyond its core FX and Hulu base since its debut.

FX has continued to lean on a cast of relative newcomers and rising talent from the worlds of standup, sketch comedy, and digital content creation to bring the show’s ensemble to life, a casting approach that’s helped give ‘Adults’ a distinctly authentic, lived-in energy compared to more polished network sitcoms. That freshness appears to be a major part of why critics have responded so positively to the series’ sensibility.

With Season 1 still available to binge in full on Hulu alongside the new prequel episode, now is an easy time for newcomers to catch up before diving into the weekly rollout of Season 2.
