Galactus Destroys a Planet in a Stunning New Look of ‘Fantastic Four: First Steps’
The new Marvel movie The Fantastic Four: First Steps is set to bring the massive cosmic villain Galactus to the big screen, played by Ralph Ineson. This film, part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and planned for release in July 2025, is the second reboot of the Fantastic Four series.
Galactus is no ordinary villain. The film’s director, Matt Shakman, described him as a “humongous, 14-billion-year-old, planet-devouring cosmic vampire.” A recent look at Galactus destroying a planet shows that the movie will stay true to this powerful character. A new look at the villain destroying a planet shows just what destruction the villain is capable of:

But Ralph Ineson doesn’t see Galactus as evil. He called him a “god of sorts” and a “big, planet-eating guy, simply doing what a big, planet-eating guy does.” To get into the role, Ineson spent quiet moments on rooftops, thinking about how to capture such an immense presence.
The filmmakers worked hard to make Galactus look like his comic book self. Unlike the cloud-like version in Rise of the Silver Surfer, this Galactus wears purple and blue armor. The armor was even made for Ineson to wear during filming so he could fully become the giant cosmic being.
The story happens in a retro-futuristic world inspired by the 1960s. The Fantastic Four team, played by Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn, must protect their world from Galactus and his herald, the Silver Surfer. Instead of retelling how the team formed, the movie focuses on their fight against this huge threat.
Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios president, has been excited to bring the Fantastic Four into the MCU in a big way. He especially wanted to include Galactus, a favorite character from the comics. To make sure the character looked right, Feige even shared clips of Galactus from the popular video game Fortnite Battle Royale.
Filming took place from July to November 2024 in England and Spain. The movie uses lots of practical effects and is styled with a retro look inspired by classic films and mid-century modern design. This gives it a fresh feel compared to other Marvel movies.
Galactus is the main cosmic threat in the film, and Ralph Ineson’s performance aims to bring real power and depth to the role. His way of portraying Galactus, combined with the detailed design, makes the character both scary and natural, like a being who has simply existed for billions of years and does what he must.
With the release date getting closer, fans are excited to see how this giant planet-eater will challenge the Fantastic Four. They’re also curious to see how Ineson’s take on Galactus will light up the big screen.
