Gambit and Thor’s Full ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Costumes Just Went on Display, and Channing Tatum Already Teased Their Biggest Fight
Marvel’s San Diego Comic Con presence has already delivered one costume reveal after another this weekend, but this latest addition might be the one longtime fans have been waiting for the longest. Between mismatched heroes, mysterious new villains, and a giant Sentinel head towering over the booth, the studio has clearly come prepared to make its Hall H return one to remember.
That momentum continued building with the unveiling of two more costumes tied directly to the film’s massive ensemble, giving fans their clearest look yet at how two very different corners of the Marvel universe will collide on screen this December.
Gambit and Thor’s costumes from ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ were put on display at San Diego Comic Con, joining previously revealed outfits for Yelena, Reed Richards, Sam Wilson and Scott Summers within the Marvel booth. The mannequin display offered attendees a close-up view of both characters’ finished looks ahead of the film’s December release.
Gambit’s presence at the booth carries extra weight given his long, complicated road to the big screen. Channing Tatum is reprising the role after his scene stealing debut in 2024’s ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ following years of a solo Gambit film falling apart back in 2019. His casting in ‘Doomsday’ has been treated by fans as a long overdue payoff for a character many feared would never get a proper cinematic showcase.
Tatum has already teased what audiences can expect from Remy LeBeau’s role in the upcoming film. Speaking with Variety, he explained that Gambit is not going to go full Cajun this time around, noting that directors Anthony and Joe Russo want things to be funny without going full Deadpool, preferring to keep the drama tight and make sure things matter when Gambit drops the Mardi Gras mask and gets serious.
That mix of humor and drama fits the broader tone Marvel appears to be striking across its massive ensemble. Leaked descriptions of the film’s SDCC trailer suggest Gambit will square off directly against Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi at one point in the story, adding another layer of intrigue to why his costume ended up as one of this weekend’s centerpiece reveals.
Thor’s inclusion alongside Gambit at the booth mirrors the film’s larger promise of throwing heroes from vastly different corners of the MCU into direct conflict with one another. Chris Hemsworth’s Asgardian previously appeared alongside Tatum in an early cast photo taken during a star-studded watch party for ‘Thunderbolts,’ hinting at their connection well before this latest costume reveal.
