Fans of Godzilla are in for a treat this summer! IDW Publishing is getting ready to launch its exciting new series of King of the Monsters comics, starting with Godzilla #1 on July 23 and Godzilla: Escape the Deadzone #1 on August 6.

To build the excitement, the publisher is giving fans an exclusive first look at the covers for both of these upcoming issues, as well as special variant covers.

The Godzilla #1 comic is written by Tim Seeley and illustrated by Nikola Čižmešija. This issue will feature a variety of covers. The main cover, known as Cover A, is done by Čižmešija himself.

There are also other covers by different artists, including Kade Byrand, Arthur Adams, and Martin Simmonds. Fans can also expect a sketch variant, a foil variant of Čižmešija’s main cover, and several retailer incentive covers. For example, there are limited-edition enamel pins as incentives, as well as full art variants from Byrand, Simmonds, and Adams.

Godzilla: Escape the Deadzone #1, written by Ethan Parker and Griffin Sheridan, with art by Pablo Tunica, will also feature a variety of covers. Like the first Godzilla comic, it has its main cover by Tunica, along with variants by Rod Reis and concept art by Tunica. There’s also a sketch variant and a special retailer incentive cover by Caspar Wijngaard.

The new line of Godzilla comics is part of what’s being called the “Kai-Sei Era,” and it will begin with the Free Comic Book Day special Godzilla: The New Heroes issue on May 3. The new series promises to deliver fresh takes on the iconic monster, and the artwork is designed to stand out from previous Godzilla comics.

Jake Smith, the editor of the series, shared his excitement about the covers, saying, “We wanted the covers of the Kai-Sei Era to stand out. Both from everything we’ve done before, and from everything else on the shelf. Nikola Čižmešija and Pablo Tunica shattered all expectations we had for these covers.” He added that it was thrilling to see the artists put their own spin on the characters and the world of Godzilla.

Finally, the Kai-Sei Era will continue with the release of Starship Godzilla #1 on October 1, written by Chris Gooch and illustrated by Oliver Ono. Fans can look forward to even more Godzilla action in the months to come.

With all these exciting covers and stories lined up, it’s clear that the new Godzilla comics are going to be a must-have for fans of the King of the Monsters.
