DC Universe is in full development under the careful eye of James Gunn, the co-CEO of DC Studios. The director of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘ revealed many details regarding the future projects of the rebooted DC Universe, and fans are quite happy with the details they uncovered interacting with Gunn on social media. Of course, despite Gunn hinting and teasing about his own project, ‘Superman: Legacy,’ the casting of most of the DC Universe is still unknown.
However, this next information didn’t come from Gunn while interacting with fans, but from a famous and very talented actor, Giancarlo Esposito. The actor found his most recent success in TV shows like ‘Breaking Bad’ and ‘The Mandalorian,’ and established himself as the ultimate television villain. The actor himself confirmed that he might be in DC Universe at one point in the future, so let’s discuss this in more detail.
Giancarlo Esposito confirms that he held talks with James Gunn regarding a potential role in DC Universe
As we already mentioned, Giancarlo Esposito is a successful actor who was quite well known for his roles in Spike Lee movies in the 1990s and a few projects that gained a cult following.
However, besides many really good movies in the 1990s, Esposito established himself as a great television villain who was depicted in several notable TV shows in the 2000s and 2010s. The most notable shows included ‘The Boys,’ ‘Breaking Bad,’ and ‘The Mandalorian,’ where the actor portrayed great antagonists that earned him many accolades among the critics.
It seems that the actor wants to join the new and rebooted DC Universe if we are to believe his words at the ComicCon Panama event. During the panel, the actor answered the fan questions, and one of them enquired about the possibility of the famous actor portraying someone in one of the future DC projects.
Interestingly enough, Esposito was open in answering the question, saying that he’s been talking to James Gunn about the possibility of being in the movie (presumably, ‘Superman: Legacy’), continuing that “who knows, it may happen soon.”
This made many fans happy since Esposito is a great actor and would be a great addition to the new DC Universe. Of course, in true fan fashion, everyone started to speculate who the actor might portray in the DC Universe, with some throwing suggestions like Martian Manhunter, Brainiac, or maybe even Perry White.
Moreover, the fans present at the panel listened to Giancarlo Esposito mentioning Marvel in terms of the fan casting for Professor Xavier, Magneto, and more, and even said that he would love to play a superhero rather than a villain this time.
Esposito admitted he would love to be in either Marvel or DC cinematic universes, which excited fans even more. Despite being a great villain, seeing Esposito playing a superhero for a change would be cool.
