Glamour Magazine Sparks Outrage Naming Nine Men as ‘Women of the Year’
Glamour magazine is facing backlash after naming nine trans individuals as part of its Women of the Year Awards in the UK. The honorees include Munroe Bergdorf, Maxine Heron, Taira, Munya, Bel Priestly, Dani St James, Ceval Omar, Mya Mehmi, and Shon Faye.
They appeared together on the cover of the magazine, which chose them in response to growing anti-trans sentiment and political debates over single-s** spaces, the CASS review, and a recent Supreme Court ruling.

Speaking about the initiative, author and model Munroe Bergdorf told Glamour, “I think that it is time that we have the conversation about protecting the transgender community, especially trans women who are being so heavily targeted.”
Maxine Heron, a communications officer at Not A Phase, also expressed concern about the current political climate, saying, “I’ve had such an increase in hate online as well, in a way that I haven’t really navigated before.”
The decision has sparked widespread online discussion. Piers Morgan reacted on X, stating, “Nine biological men being declared ‘Women of the Year’ by Glamour magazine is beyond parody even by ludicrous woke virtue-signalling standards… and, I suspect, the beginning of the end for Glamour magazine.”
Other social media users echoed similar sentiments, questioning the magazine’s audience and criticizing the move as a departure from traditional recognition of women.
Some comments on social media were sharply critical. One user wrote, “Glamour is likely on the way out. See, who’s the audience here? Not women any more. So who? Guys who do stuff to make themselves seem like women?” Another said, “Calling them ‘dolls’ is perfect! All plastic, no depth, and no authenticity. Was this supposed to be a compliment?”
While Glamour has framed the awards as a celebration of underrepresented voices in the face of rising anti-trans rhetoric, the choice has ignited debates about gender identity, representation, and the role of media in shaping cultural norms.
