Global Anime Market Expected to Surpass Domestic by 2030 Thanks to Mayor Streamers Like Netflix and Crunchyroll

The manga and anime market has been one of the fastest-growing markets in recent decades. Ever since the original “Big Three” made a global boom in the early 00s, the anime and manga world has been growing significantly to become one of the biggest markets today.
And while Japan is still the hub of the industry, some recent trends might change that in the future, as some predict that the global anime market might surpass the Japanese anime market by 2030.
The prediction comes from the recent numbers, which predict that the anime streaming market outside Japan will become worth as much as $12.5 billion, which is an amazing number. In fact, it is more than triple the amount that was recorded in 2023, but that is not everything.
These same numbers, which account for a five-year period (i.e., by 2030), predict that the global anime market might become significantly more lucrative than the domestic one, as global streaming could result in almost 80% of the total income, leaving the Japanese market at just 20%.
This is thanks to the fact that anime is popular worldwide, which makes up for a much bigger market than the Japanese one, as well as the fact that major streamers like Netflix and Crunchyroll are becoming bigger players in the market. It remains to be seen how it will all play out, but the prediction certainly seems interesting.
