Goldie Hawn (80) and Kate Hudson (46) Make the Oscars a Family Affair With Special Mother Daughter Moment
Kate Hudson and her mother, Goldie Hawn, shared a special moment at the 98th Academy Awards on Sunday. The two stars arrived together at the Dolby Theatre and quickly became one of the most talked-about duos on the red carpet.
Their outfits matched the glamorous mood of the night and drew plenty of attention from photographers and fans. Hudson, who was nominated for Best Actress, wore a custom teal gown by Armani Privé. The dress had a mermaid-style shape with sparkling gems all over it.
It also featured a sweetheart neckline and a structured peplum design. She paired the look with a rare set of green diamonds from Garatti that reportedly totaled 41 carats and were valued at around $35 million. Her blonde hair was styled in soft Old Hollywood curls that framed her face and completed the elegant look.

Standing beside her was Goldie Hawn, who went for a classic black sequin gown. The dress included a sheer plunging halter neckline, and she added long matching opera gloves.
The look gave a strong contrast to Hudson’s bright gown while still keeping the same glamorous vibe. For Hawn, being at the Oscars with her daughter carried extra meaning. She won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress back in 1970 for the film Cactus Flower.
She was not able to attend the ceremony that year because she was filming in London. Many fans and observers noted that attending the Oscars decades later with her daughter felt like a full-circle moment.
Hudson had already said before the ceremony that she wanted her mother with her that night. During an interview on the Today show, she talked about returning to the Oscars and said, “I’m excited just to be doing this again. It’s really cool. Hopefully, my mom will be my date, and we can have fun. It’ll be great.”

Her nomination came from the musical biopic Song Sung Blue. The film stars Hudson alongside Hugh Jackman as a couple who become famous for performing as a Neil Diamond tribute band in Milwaukee. The movie was directed by Craig Brewer and has been praised by critics and audiences for its music and the chemistry between the lead actors.
The film opened in theaters on Christmas Day 2025 and has stayed in the awards season conversation since then. Hudson’s nomination is also a big moment in her career. It is her first Academy Award nomination in 25 years, since she was recognized for her role in Almost Famous.
Outside of this project, Hudson continues to stay busy in several areas. She has worked for more than two decades in Hollywood and is known for films like How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. Along with acting, she is also an author, businesswoman, and a mother of three.
Looking ahead, Hudson is expected to keep expanding her work on television. She is currently involved with the series Running Point, which has been a success on Netflix. Sources in the entertainment industry say she plans to keep producing and starring in new projects while balancing her family life.
The Oscars appearance with her mother was a reminder of how close the two stars are. For many viewers, their red carpet moment became one of the most memorable highlights of the night.
