‘Griselda’ Star Sofia Vergara’s Emmys Gown Proved She Doesn’t Need a Red Carpet to Steal the Show

Award season fashion has become just as much of a headline generator as the actual winners these days, and the 2026 Emmys delivered plenty of standout moments on that front. From Zendaya’s sheer Prada gown to Desi Lydic’s structured cobalt Tom Ford look, the night’s fashion lineup gave plenty of stars a chance to make a statement before a single award was even handed out.

Sofia Vergara didn’t even need the traditional red carpet entrance to make her mark on the evening. The Modern Family star appeared onstage to present the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series to Stephen Root for ‘Widow’s Bay,’ and her look alone was enough to have fans and fashion writers talking well into the following day.

Vergara stepped out in a custom Laura Basci creation, a strapless mermaid gown built around shimmering sequins, intricate lace embroidery and sheer illusion panels. The fitted bodice featured a sweetheart neckline that highlighted her silhouette, while the figure-skimming design flared into a dramatic mermaid hem finished with a delicate train.

Every inch of the gown caught the light on stage, giving the pastel pink dress a standout presence even among a night packed with bold fashion choices. Vergara paired the sparkling design with jewelry from Lorraine Schwartz, including an oversized statement ring featuring a pear-cut center diamond surrounded by smaller pear and marquise stones arranged in a floral-inspired cluster.

Her glam followed a similarly polished approach, with makeup artist Robin Black opting for bronzed skin, soft pink eyeshadow, mauve-pink matte lips and a natural rosy blush that balanced out the shimmer of the dress itself. Vergara wore her signature bouncy waves to round out the look, keeping the overall styling classic while letting the gown do the heavy lifting.

Following the ceremony, Vergara shared photos from the night on her own Instagram, simply captioning the post “Emmy night” alongside two pink heart emojis. Designer Laura Basci also shared behind-the-scenes footage of Vergara posing in the custom gown ahead of the event, giving fans an early look before she hit the stage.

This isn’t the first time Vergara has turned heads at a major awards show, having built a reputation over the years for gowns that lean into bold silhouettes and eye-catching detail, from red carpet appearances at past Emmys ceremonies to standout looks at the Oscars and Golden Globes after-party circuit. Her latest Emmys moment fits comfortably within that track record, once again proving she knows exactly how to command attention whether she’s walking the carpet or simply stepping onto the stage.
