Gwyneth Paltrow returned to the Oscars recently in a bold and eye-catching gown, but the dress came with its own set of challenges. The 53-year-old actress wore a custom Giorgio Armani Privé design that was so tightly fitted, she had to be “sewn into” it before leaving for the ceremony.

In a behind-the-scenes video on her Goop YouTube channel called Getting Ready with Gwyneth, Paltrow showed the effort that went into preparing for the night. While talking on the phone with her 21-year-old daughter, Apple, she explained how difficult it was to manage the dress.

“I won’t be able to pee for the whole time I’m there,” Paltrow joked while finishing her hair and makeup. The strapless white column gown looked simple from the front, but it had daring full-length slits on the sides that revealed sheer trousers underneath, adding a dramatic flair that quickly got everyone talking during the March 15 event.

Paltrow was at the Oscars to present the award for Best Casting, a category that included her latest film, Marty Supreme. Directed by Josh Safdie, the movie marked an acting comeback for Paltrow after focusing on her lifestyle brand for several years. The film earned nine nominations, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Timothée Chalamet.

Despite the movie’s success, much of the attention at the event focused on Paltrow’s outfit. An entertainment insider told sources that the public reaction went beyond normal fashion chatter, turning into harsh body shaming.

“By the time Gwyneth stepped onto the red carpet, it was clear she was going to command attention, but I don’t think anyone anticipated quite how intense the reaction would be,” the source said.

The insider added that this level of scrutiny has been emotionally draining for Paltrow. “On social media, the focus quickly shifted from the dress itself to scrutiny of her body, and that level of attention has been difficult for her to process,” they said.

Beyond the Oscars, Paltrow continues to grow both her acting career and her lifestyle brand. Marty Supreme features Tyler, the Creator, and Odessa A’zion, and the film has been a hit for A24. Chalamet’s performance has received wide praise, helping the movie gain international attention.

Meanwhile, Paltrow has been expanding Goop with wellness retreats and a new line of clean beauty products. She also spends time with her children, Apple and Moses, who often take part in Goop campaigns. Her recent acting projects suggest she may be focusing on more complex, character-driven roles in the future.
