‘Haunted Hotel’ Season 3 Scripts Are Done, but Netflix Hasn’t Checked In Yet
Halloween season is the perfect time to spend a night at the Undervale, and Netflix’s animated comedy ‘Haunted Hotel’ has just checked back in for another round. The second batch of episodes arrived Oct. 9, giving fans of the show’s chaotic mix of ghosts, demons and family drama plenty to binge.
For a series that was ordered straight to series after a competitive bidding war, ‘Haunted Hotel’ has built a loyal following quickly. It comes from Matt Roller, whose credits include ‘Rick and Morty’, ‘Archer’ and ‘Community’, and it is produced by Titmouse. Dan Harmon, Chris McKenna and Steve Levy executive produce alongside Roller.
The show follows Katherine, voiced by Eliza Coupe, a single mother running the world’s most haunted hotel with her ghost brother Nathan, voiced by Will Forte. Her kids, Ben and Esther, are voiced by Skyler Gisondo and Natalie Palamides, and the family also includes Abaddon, a powerful demon trapped in a little boy’s body, voiced by Jimmi Simpson. The first season debuted Sept. 19, 2025, with 10 episodes, and the second season has eight.
Now Roller has given fans a look at what’s next. In an interview with What’s on Netflix, the showrunner revealed that the scripts for a third season are finished, even though Netflix has not yet given the show the green light.
He is aiming for a 10-episode run, and if Netflix renews the series, he wants it to arrive before Halloween 2027. That would keep the show’s tradition of a spooky-season release, and it would put it right on schedule for a yearly return.
The update arrives at a delicate moment. Netflix has not announced a renewal for a third season, and renewal status hadn’t changed as of the second season’s premiere. Roller has made clear that the show’s future depends on viewing numbers, and he has urged fans to watch so that the team can keep making more.

The series has a decent track record with Netflix. ‘Haunted Hotel’ was renewed for a second season just one week after its debut, and its first season reached the streamer’s top 10 English-language series worldwide during its opening weekend, with 1.8 million views in its first three days. Reviews were mixed to positive, with some critics praising its fresh take on grief and others finding it less distinctive.
The second season also got a playful launch. Netflix’s teaser featured Abaddon hijacking the platform’s menu and mocking other Halloween programming, a meta joke that fit the show’s irreverent tone. Returning supporting voices include Drew Tarver as Lonny and Duncan Trussell as Stabby Paul.
The finished scripts also help the case. Animation takes a long time, with writing, recording, design and post-production all needing to happen before a premiere. Having scripts ready gives the production a head start if Netflix gives the go-ahead.

Fans have plenty of threads to pull on. Some theorize that a third season could dig into the mysteries behind the Black Forest’s attack on the hotel and why Abaddon has yet to regain his true demonic powers. Katherine’s efforts to expand the business and make the hotel safer for travelers could also come into play.
Those loose ends make a longer run feel natural, even if the show could also wrap up with the questions unanswered. For now, nothing is official, and the next step belongs to Netflix.
The best way to help is simple, according to the creator: stream the new season. With the scripts done and a target date in mind, the show is clearly ready for another stay if the streamer books it.
Should Netflix renew Haunted Hotel for Season 3?
