‘Haunted Hotel’ Season 2 Trailer Brings Abaddon Back in Full Chaotic Form Ahead of Halloween
Netflix’s animated horror slate has grown considerably over the past few years, but few new entries have made as immediate an impact as ‘Haunted Hotel.‘ The adult animated comedy from ‘Rick and Morty’ writer Matt Roller premiered in September 2025 and quickly proved it had staying power well beyond a typical seasonal novelty release.
That first season followed single mother Katherine Freeling as she moved her two kids to a foggy stretch of upstate New York, inheriting a rundown hotel from her late brother Nathan, whose ghost stuck around and wasn’t exactly ready to hand over the keys. The season dropped all 10 episodes at once and cracked Netflix’s global top 10 English-language chart in its opening weekend, pulling in 1.8 million views and 7.5 million hours of viewing in its first three days alone.
That strong debut pushed Netflix to renew the show for a second season just one week after its premiere, and the streamer has now confirmed ‘Haunted Hotel’ Season 2 will officially check back in on October 9. Netflix marked the announcement with a new teaser trailer led by fan-favorite demon Abaddon, who scrambles, snarls and slams his way across the screen to deliver the news himself.
The new season will consist of eight episodes, each running roughly 30 minutes, continuing the Freeling family’s story after Season 1 ended with them surviving an apocalypse-level threat. Netflix’s teaser promises new ghosts, new hotel employees and new undefined evils the family hasn’t even discovered yet, setting up plenty of fresh chaos for the show’s signature mix of horror and workplace-sitcom humor.

The full voice cast is set to return for the new season, including Will Forte as Nathan, Eliza Coupe as Katherine, Skyler Gisondo as Ben, Natalie Palamides as Esther, and Jimmi Simpson bringing Abaddon back to life. Dan Harmon, Chris McKenna and Steve Levy continue on as executive producers alongside Roller, whose credits also include ‘Community’ and ‘Archer.’
Animation is once again being handled by Titmouse, the studio behind projects like ‘Big Mouth’ and ‘The Venture Bros.,’ with Erica Hayes supervising direction on the new season. Titmouse’s involvement has helped give the series its distinct visual style since Season 1, and that consistency should carry over as the Freeling family faces whatever new supernatural trouble awaits them this time around.
With the October 9 release date landing right in the middle of the Halloween season, Netflix appears to be positioning ‘Haunted Hotel’ as one of its go-to spooky watches for the month, betting that the show’s blend of family dysfunction and paranormal mayhem will draw the same kind of audience that made its first season such a quick success.
