Did You Know Henry Cavill Fired The Rock’s Wife as His Manager After Being Dropped as Superman?
As you likely know, Henry Cavill, despite being incredibly popular and beloved by fans, has faced a string of setbacks. His time as Superman ended when James Gunn decided to cast David Corenswet in the role, and his successful stint in The Witcher also came to a close, with Liam Hemsworth taking his place.
His recent project, Argylle, underperformed, and although Cavill isn’t out of work, his career hasn’t quite reached the heights many expected.
While Cavill’s exit from The Witcher came first, fans still believed he would remain as Superman in the DCU, offering some consolation. The studio went as far as to tell Cavill to announce to fans that he is returning, but in a surprising twist, Cavill was let go and ultimately replaced by Corenswet.
Although various factors likely contributed to this, it appears that Cavill held his then-manager Dany Garcia—who also happens to be Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s wife and manager—partially responsible.
After losing the Superman role, Cavill fired Garcia, marking a significant shift in his professional relationships. Here’s what you need to know about the situation.
As you may recall, the DCEU underwent a complete reboot after James Gunn took over as its head. What started as Zack Snyder’s brainchild was set to come to an end, with a few previously announced and filmed projects still making their way to screens.
One of these was Black Adam, starring Dwayne Johnson. Despite Johnson’s claims that the film would be a massive hit and revitalize the DCEU, the movie ended up underperforming, but that wasn’t the only issue.
Reports surfaced that Johnson allegedly attempted to take control of the DCEU’s creative direction, aiming to position Black Adam as a central figure in the franchise. In pursuit of this, he rejected a Shazam! crossover and instead secured an unexpected Superman cameo in Black Adam, marking Henry Cavill’s final appearance as the iconic hero.
As tensions surrounding Johnson’s involvement grew, there was hope that Cavill might be returning to the DCU. However, just months later, Cavill released the following statement:
I have just had a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran and it’s sad news, everyone. After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isn’t the easiest, but that’s life.
The changing of the guard is something that happens. I respect that. James and Peter have a universe to build. I wish them and all involved with the new universe the best of luck, and the happiest of fortunes.

The news came as a shock to everyone, especially after Cavill had already been replaced on The Witcher. While there were various theories circulating, the main takeaway was that the new DCU leadership wanted to head in a fresh direction.
Whether Cavill’s firing was due to his ties with Dwayne Johnson or other factors remains unclear, but ultimately, he was let go.
Although the full details are unknown, it appears Cavill held his then-manager, Dany Garcia—who is also Johnson’s wife and manager—responsible, as he parted ways with her after the Superman decision. Whether this move benefited him is uncertain, but Cavill seems to be bouncing back, while Johnson’s DCU ambitions have fallen apart.
