Hilary Duff recently opened up about growing up in the entertainment world and how her career often came before school. During an appearance on the Table Manners podcast with hosts Jessie Ware and Lennie Ware, the 38-year-old singer talked about the gaps in her education as a young star.

“I received zero education, but I know a lot about a lot of things,” she said, reflecting on her time on set. She explained that although she was technically homeschooled, her mother suggested she get a high school equivalency. “Can you just go get your GED?” her mom asked. Duff chose not to pursue it but said she is proud of the way she has taught herself over the years.

“I feel like I educated myself on my own on different things I was interested in,” she shared. She added that reading has become one of her favorite ways to learn whenever her busy schedule allows.

Duff also said she no longer worries about her academic background. “I think I’m past the window of caring that my education wasn’t great because I feel like I got strengths in other areas,” she told the hosts. She said she isn’t afraid to ask questions or use search engines to look up historical facts.

She enjoys learning alongside her eldest son, Luca, who has a more traditional schooling experience. “Something that’s been so cool is connecting to my kid and having him teach me stuff that I didn’t know about,” she said. She added that giving all four of her children a strong education is a priority for her.

This reflection comes as Duff hits a high point in her music career. Her sixth studio album, luck…or something, was released on February 20 and quickly reached number three on the Billboard 200 chart. The album, mostly produced by her husband Matthew Koma, includes popular tracks like Mature and Roommates.

She is also preparing to star in a new docuseries directed by Sam Wrench. The show will give fans a behind-the-scenes look at her return to music. Alongside the docuseries, Duff is gearing up for her Lucky Me World Tour, which begins in West Palm Beach this June and will travel to the United Kingdom and Australia later this year.

Before the tour, she had been performing a series of sold-out residency shows in Las Vegas. These shows mark a major comeback for the former Disney Channel star, who has successfully grown from a teen idol into a respected pop artist and entrepreneur.

Balancing four children and a global tour keeps her life busy, but Duff says she feels more confident and self-aware than ever. Her recent interview shows that she is embracing both her career and her family life with energy and focus.
