The Top 10 Hottest Female Superheroes

Top 10 Hottest Female Superheroes

For as long as I can remember, I always thought there to be only two certainties in life.

  1. We are all born
  2. We will all die

After becoming a comic book fan, however, I’ve learned that there is a third. Boys will spend their entire lives discussing the hottest female superheroes.

I know. It sounds like a pastime reserved for overly horny teenagers but I assure you, it isn’t. Nope. Not even a little bit. As much as I’d like to tell you our thoughts change as we grow from boys into men, they don’t. In fact, the conversation only grows as men become exposed to different characters. No matter how much the conversations grow, there are a small number of female superheroes that continuously top every list. If you stick around, I’d like to tell you who they are.

List of hottest female superheroes:

10. Gwen Stacy

Importance of Gwen Stacy To Peter Parker

Although I’ve written articles detailing why both Gwen Stacy and Mary Jane Watson are Peter Parker’s true love, it’s Gwen Stacy that I lean towards. I love the Gwen Stacy character.

Although I can’t exactly explain why this is so, I’m going to try. Not only is she the girl that Peter can never have, but she also has devilishly good looks, is intelligent beyond measure, and is so popular that Marvel brought her back (albeit from a different section of the Multiverse) to the mainstream. These simple qualities are ones that very few of Peter Parker’s girlfriends can boast.

Gwen Stacy belongs on this list because she could capture the attention of any man by simply walking into a room.

9. Rogue

Rogue

If any superhero has what’s affectionately called “southern charm”, it’s Rogue.

In her first few appearances, Rogue wasn’t really all that popular. It wasn’t until the 1990s television show, X-Men The Animated Series that her popularity skyrocketed. During the show, the world finally took notice of the character.

Rightfully so.

Aside from her undeniable good looks, Rogue has a lot going for her. She’s strong, has a sexy accent, can fly, is able to learn the deepest and darkest secrets of anyone with nothing more than a simple touch, and can cause comas or worse with that same touch. And it’s the touch that I’m most interested in.

Why?

Because nobody can get close to her without ending up in a hospital, Rogue is extremely mysterious…and mystery is hot.

8. Kitty Pryde

Kitty Pryde

Kitty Pryde has always come across as the girl next door. She’s often the youngest of the X-Men, is the most naive, and the one that the others try to protect. It’s precisely these that land her here.

There are very few tropes that hold the sexiness that the girl next door trope holds.  Movies are built around it. Books have studied it. And comic characters like Kitty Pryde have embraced it. It’s not that she can’t hold her own in battle. It’s far from that. Kitty is a trained warrior who has grown up to lead “X” teams. It’s more that Kitty will always be looked at as the cute girl that all fanboys want to date but all are too embarrassed to ask for a date.

7. Catwoman

Catwoman Darwyn Cooke

As one of the most important and popular heroes of the last 25 years, it’s easy to see why Catwoman makes this list of hottest female superheroes.

Admittedly, my fascination with Catwoman only began during Ed Brubaker and Darwyn Cooke’s epic run about 15 years ago. It was during this run that the two changed practically everything about the character. First, they made her a street-level anti-hero who helped those less fortunate. Second, they grew the already growing relationship she had with Batman. And third, they created her best costume.

Oh, that costume.

At first glance, it may look a little bizarre. I mean, it’s a skintight leather outfit with large goggles. However, for unexplainable reasons it works and is super hot.

6. Mera

DC Mera History

I’ve already eluded that mystery plays a huge role in determining hotness. Very few superheroes can boast mystery quite as Mera can.

Think about it.

Mera lives under the sea and there are very few characters that can seclude and keep themselves hidden from the world in the way that Mera can. More than that, Mera is immensely powerful and some, myself included, believe that she’s even more powerful than Aquaman.

Mera’s good looks are undeniable. She’s attractive, sexy, seductive, and so much more. It’s no wonder that Amber Heard, who shares the same qualities, was asked to play her in the Aquaman movie. Hopefully, as Mera continues to rise in popularity, so too does the amount that we learn about that which she hides.

5. Barbara Gordon

Barbara Gordon

If you’ve read any of my articles detailing the history of some of comic book’s greatest females; you’ve probably begun to see a trend on this list.

Right?

I’ve spent the last year or so discussing and diving into the history of some of my favorite female comic book characters. I wanted to explore what makes them great all the while exposing some deeper details about them to you.

Barbara Gordon is one of those characters. She makes this list not because of her good looks. Instead, she makes this list because of the inner strength and determination she showed after becoming paralyzed. In a society that prides looks over all else, we must remember that so many other qualities determine how hot someone is.

4. Emma Frost

History of Emma Frost

I don’t know about you but there’s something about the purity of the color white that’s intoxicating. Emma Frost, like very few others, embraces the white. Now, I know what you’re thinking. Of all the hottest female superheroes that are on this list, Emma Frost isn’t exactly the definition of pure.

And you’re not wrong.

That, however, doesn’t take away from the fact that she was created to be every fanboy’s dream come true. Emma has, shall we say, all the right attributes and dresses in such a way that leaves me no choice but to put her on this hottest female superheroes list.

Tell me I’m wrong.

3. Poison Ivy

Poison Ivy

Oh, Poison Ivy. You don’t need to use your powers to land on this list. Heck, you don’t have to do anything and you’ll land on this list. You are what the world needs…an extreme environmentalist who promotes self-confidence, all-the-while walking around unconcerned how the world perceives you.

But Poison Ivy, your goodness doesn’t end there. Over the last many years, you’ve begun to inspire and help those women who lack what you have. You are the definition of selfless and you know what? That’s really hot.

So, thank you.

P.S. You’ll always be a superhero in my books.

2. Power Girl

Origin of Power Girl

Power Girl is known for many things…strength, flight, speed, reflexes and the like. However, for all the things she’s known for, all pale in comparison to how well she’s known for her, ahem, assets.

One look at Power Girl and you’ll see that she’s been developed in ways that most of the other hottest female superheroes in history haven’t. Now, understand that this doesn’t mean she’s on this list because of it. No, not even close. She’s on this list because her confidence and willingness to defend what’s right is unbelievably hot. That is, she’s here because the traits and qualities that aren’t visible shine brighter than the ones that are.

1. Psylocke

Psylocke

I’ll admit it. I had a huge crush on Psylocke growing up. My infatuation with Psylocke was so much that I’d spend every waking minute sketching and drawing her.

But it didn’t end there.

When Overpower came out and I finally collected her character power card, I clung onto it as a baby clings onto its blanket. Psylocke is one of the most sexualized characters ever created. She’s one of the very few characters who walk around in a bikini thwarting the plans of supervillains everywhere. Yep. Psylocke doesn’t wear a traditional superhero costume or uniform. Instead, she fights evil wearing something reserved for an all-inclusive resort…and those resorts are pretty hot.

And that’s it. The hottest female superheroes in the history of comic books. What do you think? Who would make your hottest female superheroes list?
