How Knull Might Be the Reason Behind SSU’s Merger With the MCU
Recently, the final trailer for ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ has dropped. The movie is important for several reasons, it’s going to be the final installment in the trilogy and also the debut of one of the most terrifying and powerful villains in Marvel Comics – Knull, the King in Black.
While a relatively “new” character as far as established faces in the comics go, Knull quickly went on to become the biggest danger a symbiote could face, so it made him a natural fit for the movie.
Despite Knull being an extremely interesting character, fans were worried that featuring Knull in a single movie wouldn’t do the character justice. There was no buildup for him, and quite frankly the SSU currently lacks characters strong enough to take him down.
But, if the most recent rumors are correct Knull won’t be “one and done,” instead the character will crossover to the MCU in the upcoming ‘Spider-Man 4.’
This wasn’t confirmed by any official sources, but if turns out to be true, we might as well head toward that rumored SSU and MCU merger that industry insiders have been talking about for the last several years.
But, what’s Knull has to do with it? Well, considering that Knull is a multiversal villain he is currently the only being in the SSU with enough juice to destroy an entire reality.
Knull is considered a multiversal villain primarily due to his origins and abilities. As the living embodiment of darkness and the creator of the symbiotes, he exists beyond the confines of a single universe. His influence extends across various realities, making him a terrifying threat to multiple dimensions.
Knull’s power stems from primordial darkness, positioning him as a cosmic entity. This gives him the ability to affect not just one universe but many, challenging heroes across different realities.
Knull has clashed with significant cosmic figures like the Celestials and even the living embodiment of the universe itself.
It’s possible that Knull will come to SSU and destroy that reality. Considering the abilities that connection to “the Hive” gives to the symbiotes, it’s possible that Carnage and Venom might jump over to a different reality, that of Earth-616.
The hive doesn’t have universal limitations and it allows cross-universe connection, since a piece of Venom is currently on Earth-616, he might as well prove to be an anchor to two Symbiotes.
As far as other characters from the SSU go, they are unlikely to make the jump although Madame Web theoretically could perhaps do it.
Kraven the Hunter’s jump to a different universe might be dependent on the success of his upcoming solo movie. The villain lacks any significant powers that allow him to manipulate reality and dimensions but some of Kraven’s storylines involve him confronting different versions of Spider-Man or other heroes, which could hint at multiversal encounters.
