Hulk Finally Figured out How to Defeat Thanos, It Turns out It Was Really Simple
Hulk is one of the most powerful characters in Marvel Comics, mostly thanks to his basically unlimited strength and near-immortality. Not a lot of villains can brag about defeating Hulk in a fight, well, except for Thanos.
Thanos effectively triumphed in nearly every confrontation with Hulk in the comics (and the MCU) by rarely relying on direct physical strength. Instead, he chose to outsmart Hulk and utilize other superior abilities that made it difficult for Hulk to respond effectively.
‘The Incredible Hulk Annual’ (2024) #1 however changed this, and Hulk finally found a way to defeat Thanos and it had nothing to do with his raw strength but rather Hulk opted to do something he rarely does – he decided to sucker punch the villain.
Written by Derek Landy and illustrated by Geoff Shaw, this installment of the “Infinity Watch” crossover storyline features Hulk as a significant threat to Thanos in his quest to obtain Infinity Stones.
However, the battle doesn’t go as Thanos intended, as Hulk not only refuses to be defeated but also embraces a more ruthless fighting style, overcoming previous inhibitions that limited him in earlier encounters with the villain.
Thanos attempts to confront Hulk, presumably to give his orders and Hulk uses the situation to play dirty. He delivers a clean and quick punch to the gut and does not even shy away from biting the Mad Titan.
This new version of Hulk does not rely on his savagery and raw strength, he is a skilled and able manipulator and obviously does not shy away from playing dirty.
Thanos is quickly defeated by the Jade Giant, and Colleen Wing finishes the job with her Katana.
Hulk and Thanos fought in the comics several times, but this is the second time overall that Hulk managed to walk away undoubtedly victorious!
