Few stars treat a press tour like a fashion project, but Hunter Schafer has made it part of the performance. A former model with an editorial eye, she has been dressing for her new sci-fi series with a clear point of view.

The latest proof is a fresh press photo that has fans talking, and it fits neatly into a styling story that has been building since the summer.

Schafer stars in Prime Video’s ‘Blade Runner 2099‘ opposite Michelle Yeoh. She plays Cora, a human fugitive who takes on one last identity as a Blade Runner and partners with Olwen, a replicant days from dying.

The limited series premieres on Prime Video on November 25, and every public appearance so far has doubled as a fashion moment. Her stylist, Dara Allen, has leaned into a retro-futuristic mood that suits the franchise.

In the new press photo, Schafer stands against a weathered, textured backdrop with her long strawberry-blonde hair falling past her shoulders. She wears a bandeau top in teal and black stripes, paired with a pencil skirt in vivid red splashed with black brushstroke-style prints.

Black sculptural heeled mules finish the look. The palette is saturated and graphic, with the red and teal pushing against each other for a strong color-blocked effect.

It is a bold approach that fits the show. Schafer has stuck to bright, high-contrast color combinations, nodding to the pop, supersaturated visuals of the ‘Blade Runner’ films.

The styling pattern began at San Diego Comic-Con, where Prime Video brought the series to Hall H on July 24. Schafer wore a look straight from the Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2027 runway, with a sheer yellow organza shirt over a red bodysuit, sheer shorts cinched with a chunky chain belt and bright tights.

The yellow shirt paid homage to the transparent yellow raincoat worn by the virtual companion Joi in ‘Blade Runner 2049’. Fashion writers noted that the translucent textures and plastic-like finish gave the outfit a retro-futuristic quality. Yeoh wore Schiaparelli to the same panel.

Schafer reportedly changed into other looks that weekend, including an archive Jil Sander piece and a Prada outfit from 2018. One style site called the sequence a not-so-casual fashion-geek flex, and another said it was intrigued to see where the method dressing went next.

Hunter Schafer Goes Full Cyberpunk Glam at NYCC as Prime Video’s ‘Blade Runner’ Sequel Series Drops a New Trailer

Schafer and Yeoh brought the show to New York Comic Con on Saturday, October 10. They were joined by Dimitri Abold, Lewis Gribben and Matthew Needham, plus showrunner Silka Luisa and executive producers Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson.

Prime Video unveiled a new trailer, key art and four never-before-seen clips. The trailer digs deeper into the central mystery and the uneasy partnership between Cora and Olwen.

The series is set 50 years after the events of ‘Blade Runner 2049’, in a Los Angeles that has been reborn, just not by humanity. Replicants are now the dominant force, and the trailer hints at a war that happened sometime after the last film.

Schafer’s wardrobe choices reflect the show’s world-building. The ‘Blade Runner’ universe has long been defined by neon color, translucent layers and exaggerated silhouettes, and her looks echo those ideas without copying costumes.

She also brings a fashion background. She has walked runways for designers including Marc Jacobs, which gives her the confidence to carry runway pieces exactly as shown.

That gives each appearance a sense of intention. Instead of a generic red carpet gown, every outfit seems to say something about the project.

The series is also a big moment for the franchise. It is the latest installment following ‘Blade Runner’ and ‘Blade Runner 2049’, with Ridley Scott serving as an executive producer and Jonathan van Tulleken of ‘Shōgun’ directing the first two episodes.

All eight episodes arrive at once on November 25. Between now and then, expect more promotion, more trailers and almost certainly more standout looks from Schafer.

What do you think of Hunter Schafer’s bold color-blocked look for Blade Runner 2099?
