The past year has marked an explosive creative evolution for multihyphenate creator Jordan Firstman. After transitioning from viral online comedy to scene-stealing television performances, the writer and actor is now stepping directly into the cinematic spotlight as a feature filmmaker with the highly anticipated rollout of ‘Club Kid’. As anticipation builds ahead of the movie’s theatrical debut, his close friends and collaborators have stepped forward to celebrate the milestone, proving just how tightly knit the cast of HBO’s breakout comedy ‘I Love LA’ truly is.

The project originally took the international festival circuit by storm earlier this year when it debuted in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival. The heartfelt comedy-drama ignited a massive $17 million bidding war that ultimately saw boutique powerhouse A24 acquire worldwide distribution rights. Starring Firstman alongside Cara Delevingne and Diego Calva, the story centers on Peter, an underground New York party promoter whose drug-fueled nightlife routine is thrown into sudden disarray when the 10-year-old son he never knew existed arrives on his doorstep.

Ahead of the movie’s theatrical release, Hollywood celebrated the directorial debut on Wednesday evening at the historic Vista Theatre in Los Angeles. The carpet quickly turned into an affectionate television reunion when Firstman was joined by his core ensemble from ‘I Love LA’. Co-stars Rachel Sennott, True Whitaker, and Odessa A’zion arrived together to champion Firstman’s achievement, gathering for photographs against an eye-catching photo wall flanked by gleaming, oversized disco balls.

The reunited group brought distinct, effortlessly cool style to the cinema entrance, embodying the very aesthetic that has endeared them to contemporary audiences. Sennott turned heads sporting blonde hair and a leopard-print slip dress trimmed with violet lace, standing alongside Whitaker in a minimalist, classic black slip dress. Posing in the middle, Firstman sported an oversized grey suit paired with an open-collar pink dress shirt, while A’zion delivered an edgy silhouette in a deconstructed black jacket and sheer detailing.

The warm public display mirrored the chaotic yet deeply affectionate group dynamics depicted in ‘I Love LA’, which became one of HBO’s most talked-about new comedies following its premiere. Created by and starring Sennott as struggling talent manager Maia, the series features Firstman as flamboyant celebrity stylist Charlie Cohen, alongside Whitaker’s Alani Marcus and A’zion’s internet-famous Tallulah Stiel. Their palpable chemistry on screen helped earn the critically hailed half-hour comedy a swift renewal for a second season, solidifying their status as one of television’s favorite young creative collectives.

While Firstman has become known for satirizing modern superficiality across television, ‘Club Kid’ represents a noticeably more vulnerable and reflective chapter in his artistic journey. Discussing the transition from the small screen to feature filmmaking, Firstman explained to The Upcoming that he wanted to subvert familiar cinematic tropes through a distinct lens: “I felt like there was room for a queer retelling of it.” The filmmaker also emphasized that the narrative was born from personal introspection, choosing to craft an honest coming-of-age story centered around delayed adulthood and chosen family.

As ‘Club Kid’ prepares to open in select theaters on November 6, 2026, the Vista Theatre premiere proved that Firstman’s creative peers are eager to cheer on his evolution. With production on the next installment of ‘I Love LA’ on the horizon, the group’s red carpet appearance underscores the genuine camaraderie sustaining Hollywood’s newest crop of comedy auteurs.
