The Ice Age gang is finally back, and this time they are heading straight into danger.

Disney and 20th Century Studios have officially released the first teaser trailer for Ice Age: Boiling Point, giving fans a quick look at the next chapter in the long-running animated franchise. According to information released by Disney, the new movie will bring back many of the series’ most popular characters while sending them on a brand-new adventure filled with dinosaurs, lava, and plenty of chaos.

The short teaser wastes no time throwing the herd into trouble. Manny, Sid, Diego, and the rest of the group find themselves blasted out of a volcano and launched into an unexpected journey. The footage also includes a brief appearance from Scrat and his never-ending obsession with his famous acorn.

Disney described the movie as taking the characters “straight into a dinosaur-and-lava-filled madcap adventure to visit never-before-seen corners of the treacherous Lost World.” The teaser may only be about a minute long, but it gives fans a good idea of the fast-paced action and comedy the film plans to deliver.

One of the biggest reasons fans are excited is the return of the original voice cast. Ray Romano is back as Manny the woolly mammoth, Denis Leary returns as Diego the saber-toothed tiger, and John Leguizamo once again voices the always-talkative Sid the sloth. Simon Pegg is returning as Buck Wild, while Queen Latifah is back as Ellie.

The trailer also features Crash, Eddie, Scrat, and Baby Scrat, although it has not yet been confirmed whether all of their original voice actors will return for the movie.

Ice Age: Boiling Point marks an important moment for the franchise. It will be the first theatrical Ice Age film released without Blue Sky Studios, the animation company that produced the previous movies before shutting down in 2021 following Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox.

Despite the studio’s closure, the franchise has remained popular with audiences around the world. The original Ice Age movie debuted in 2002 and became a major success. Over the years, it grew into one of animation’s biggest franchises, leading to multiple sequels, television specials, and spin-off projects.

Reports of a sixth main Ice Age film first started circulating years ago. According to previous comments from franchise creators, ideas for another sequel existed as far back as 2016. However, the project did not officially move forward until much later. In 2024, John Leguizamo revealed that a new movie was in development, and production reportedly began later that year. The official title, Ice Age: Boiling Point, was announced in 2025.

The film is directed by John Donkin, who previously worked on The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild. Producing duties are being handled by longtime franchise producer Lori Forte.

Fans still have some time to wait before the herd returns to the big screen. Ice Age: Boiling Point is scheduled to arrive exclusively in theaters on February 5, 2027. Based on the first teaser, it looks like Manny, Sid, Diego, and their friends are about to face one of their biggest challenges yet.
