Inde Navarrette Opens Up About Career Struggle After ‘Obsession’ Left Her Without Roles
Inde Navarrette’s career may have received a major boost from the success of ‘Obsession’, but the actress says the journey after filming the hit horror movie was far from easy. Despite being part of a project that became a major surprise success, Navarrette revealed that she faced a long period without booking any acting jobs.
In a recent interview with Complex, Navarrette opened up about the difficult period after completing work on ‘Obsession’. The actress explained that she spent around a year and a half auditioning for roles but struggled to turn those opportunities into actual jobs.
“I was auditioning … nothing was sticking,” Navarrette told Complex while discussing that challenging time in her career.
During that period, Navarrette had to find other ways to support herself while continuing to chase acting opportunities. She revealed that she started streaming video games using a computer she built herself and also worked as a dog walker to help cover her expenses.
The actress’ experience highlights a side of Hollywood that many fans do not always see. Even performers connected to successful projects can face uncertainty between roles, especially when trying to find the right next opportunity after a major release.
Before becoming known for her acting work, Navarrette says entertainment was already an important part of her life. Growing up in a military family meant she moved frequently and attended more than a dozen schools, making it difficult to create long-term friendships.
Because of those constant changes, movies and video games became a source of comfort for her. Those interests eventually became a major part of both her career and personal life, with gaming remaining one of her favorite hobbies.
The actress also showed off her fun personality during the Complex interview when she was asked about her fictional “hear me out” crushes. Her choices surprised fans, with Optimus Prime from ‘Transformers’ taking the top spot.
Navarrette also included Shrek on her list, explaining her unusual choice by saying, “Shrek … He’s super tall … and protective. I get it.” She also named Mufasa from Disney’s ‘The Lion King’ as another fictional character she finds appealing.
While Navarrette’s personal journey has included challenges, her recent success with ‘Obsession’ has introduced her to a much larger audience. The horror film became an unexpected box office hit, reportedly earning more than $300 million worldwide despite having a much smaller production budget.

The success of the movie helped raise Navarrette’s profile, but her comments show that a major hit does not always guarantee immediate career opportunities. Her story serves as a reminder that actors often continue facing auditions and setbacks even after appearing in successful projects.
Navarrette is now preparing for her next major role in ‘Invertigo’, a survival thriller from the producers behind ‘Fall’ and ‘Obsession’. The film follows a group of teenagers who sneak onto a rollercoaster before its official opening, only to become trapped high above the ground after a dangerous malfunction.
After overcoming a difficult stretch in her career, Navarrette appears ready for the next chapter as she continues building her place in Hollywood. Fans will soon get to see what she brings to her upcoming projects.
