Justin Baldoni and his wife Emily have spoken publicly about the ongoing legal dispute involving Blake Lively and the events surrounding the production of the 2024 film “It Ends with Us.”

In a video shared on Instagram Wednesday, the couple reflected on the difficult period they have faced over the past two years and explained why they chose to remain quiet until now. Baldoni said they had wanted to speak out many times but decided to wait for the right moment.

“We have not spoken publicly for the better part of the last two years, and it’s not because we haven’t had anything to say, because lord knows we have,” Baldoni said in the video. He added that each time they considered making a statement, they felt it was better to hold back.

Emily also addressed the situation, saying there was still a lot she could say about the dispute but that choosing the right time to speak was important. She said the couple is currently focused on gratitude and the people who supported them throughout the controversy.

“It makes it hard to figure out what is right for this specific moment,” Emily said. “But what does feel important is that we can genuinely say that we are sitting here today feeling immense gratitude for so many things and so many people.”

Baldoni agreed, saying that gratitude helped them during the difficult period. “Gratitude has saved us,” he said.

The legal fight began after Lively accused Baldoni, who directed and starred alongside her in “It Ends with Us,” of sexual harassment and claimed he attempted to damage her reputation through a coordinated online campaign. The allegations became public in December 2024 and led to a major legal battle between the two sides.

Baldoni and his production company Wayfarer Studios later filed a $400 million defamation lawsuit against Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds. The lawsuit accused Lively of using false claims to gain control over the film’s production. However, a judge later dismissed Baldoni’s lawsuit, ruling that Lively’s statements were protected under litigation privilege.

According to reports, Lively eventually dropped her own lawsuit against Baldoni and Wayfarer before the case was scheduled to go to trial in May. No money was exchanged as part of the settlement, though Lively is now seeking $7.5 million in legal fees from Baldoni and Wayfarer.

During their Instagram message, Baldoni said they decided not to publicly respond for a long time because they wanted the legal process to continue without adding more attention to the situation. He thanked supporters who stood by him during the controversy.

“You have given your time to fight for us, and thank you does not feel like enough,” Baldoni said. He also shared that the experience changed how he views relationships and support from others.

The couple’s video did not go into detail about every part of the legal dispute, but it marked their first major public statement together since the controversy began. For now, the legal issues surrounding the “It Ends with Us” production continue to attract attention as both sides move forward after a highly publicized conflict.
