Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of Pride and Prejudice may have found its Mr. Darcy. According to Variety, actor Jack Lowden is in talks to play the iconic romantic hero, Mr. Darcy, a character known for his complex relationship with Elizabeth Bennet in Jane Austen’s classic novel.

While Netflix hasn’t officially confirmed the casting, Lowden’s involvement has sparked excitement. The actor is best known for his role in the Apple TV+ series Slow Horses, where he earned Emmy, Golden Globe, and BAFTA nominations. Lowden has also appeared in films like Dunkirk, Mary Queen of Scots, and Benediction.

The series adaptation, first announced last year, is being written by Dolly Alderton, the author of Everything I Know About Love. Although the role of Elizabeth Bennet hasn’t been officially confirmed, there were early reports suggesting Daisy Edgar-Jones might be cast in the role.

If the casting of Lowden as Mr. Darcy is confirmed, he will join a long line of actors who have played the character, including Matthew Macfadyen (in the 2005 film) and Colin Firth (in the 1995 BBC series).

Many other notable actors, such as Peter Cushing and Laurence Olivier, have also portrayed Darcy over the years.
