Yesterday news broke that Beck Bennett is joining the cast of the upcoming ‘Superman’ which is currently shooting in Georgia. Bennett will be joining David Corenswet’s Clark Kent, Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor, and Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane.

Fans speculated on the role until James Gunn cleared it up on his private Instagram account revealing it to be that of Steve Lombard.

Beck Bennett is notable for his work as a comedian, actor, and writer. He gained fame as a cast member on the long-running sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live’, where he presented his comedic talents through various characters and impressions. Bennett has also appeared in numerous television shows and films.

As far as his role in the upcoming ‘Superman’ goes, Steve Lombard is not exactly a vital character in the story and we can only assume that he is going to be a comedy relief in the film.

Steve Lombard is a sports columnist at the Daily Planet and part of Superman’s supporting cast, alongside colleagues like Clark Kent, Perry White, Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, Cat Grant, and Ron Troupe. With a background in football, Lombard is notorious for his self-centered and goofy behavior, often played for comedic relief. Despite his pranks, particularly aimed at Clark Kent, Lombard considers Kent a close friend.

‘Superman’ is set for a theatrical release in the United States on July 11, 2025, as part of the DCU’s ‘Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.’
