Jamie Foxx Reveals the Movie He Thinks Was a Complete Disaster
Jamie Foxx has come a long way since his early Hollywood days. He went from supporting roles in movies like Ali and Collateral to becoming a major star. His performance as Ray Charles in Ray earned him the Academy Award for Best Actor and opened the door for leading roles in hits like Law Abiding Citizen and Django Unchained.
Even though Foxx has had many successes, he’s never been shy about admitting when a movie didn’t turn out the way he hoped. One of his most notable misses is the 2005 action movie Stealth, which featured high-tech fighter jets and a cast that included Jessica Biel and Josh Lucas.
During the press tour for his 2007 film The Kingdom, Foxx talked about how he had to put on a brave face to promote Stealth. “I would tell audiences this is the greatest movie,” he said, “only to have people confront me later and say they can’t believe you lied about the quality of the film.”
At the time, he spoke highly of the director, Rob Cohen, calling him a party animal who knew how to combine technology with high-energy action. He also praised the military personnel he met on set, saying that they were real heroes doing tough and often thankless work. “There are no second takes when you are actually out there defending your country,” Foxx explained. Still, looking back, he ranks the film among his least favorite career moments.
Today, Foxx is enjoying a major professional comeback. His action-comedy Back in Action, which brought Cameron Diaz out of retirement, premiered on Netflix on January 17, 2025, and has been dominating the global streaming charts. He was recently spotted at Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara, mingling with fans and fellow stars like Kevin Costner.
Fans are also looking forward to Foxx’s next big project: the long-awaited Mike Tyson biopic. Now a limited series, it stars Foxx in the lead role with Antoine Fuqua directing and Martin Scorsese as an executive producer.
Foxx has been training for years to capture Tyson’s life, promising to show not just the fights but the man behind the gloves. Many expect his performance to be an award-season contender.
Foxx’s willingness to admit past missteps, like Stealth, shows a different side of him. “I think it helps people relate to me,” he said in interviews, adding that not every project turns out perfectly, no matter how talented the team behind it is. His honesty makes fans feel he’s human, while still showing the dedication he puts into his craft.
Do you think Jamie Foxx’s openness about movies like Stealth makes him more relatable as an actor, or should stars always stand by their work no matter what? Share your thoughts in the comments.
