Jamie Lee Curtis, best known for her iconic role as Laurie Strode in Halloween, has had a long and varied career, moving seamlessly between horror, comedy, and drama.

From Freaky Friday to Everything Everywhere All At Once, which earned her an Oscar, Curtis has also made memorable appearances on television. Recently, she spoke to the Television Academy about some of her all-time favorite TV series.

Curtis reflected on classic shows from her childhood, sharing her love for The Brady Bunch. “The Brady Bunch fu/king hit me in my sweet spot. I watched every single episode — it represented my childhood, even though it didn’t represent my childhood, if that makes any sense,” she said.

She also mentioned The Civil War as another show she’s always enjoyed.

Moving to more contemporary television, Curtis praised the HBO series The Bear, in which she had the opportunity to star. She described being captivated by the first season, saying, “I watched an episode of the first season and had never seen anything like it. I was mesmerised by the writing, by these characters, by this world that I was being invited into. I felt the anxiety amidst the laughter and tears.”

Curtis explained that she was thrilled to join the cast for season two, adding, “To say the words ‘I make things beautiful for them, nobody makes anything beautiful for me’ is almost indescribable. I am so fu/king excited and privileged to be a member of this beautiful family of creative people.”

Curtis also highlighted her admiration for Girls, Lena Dunham’s series about young adults navigating complicated friendships and relationships in New York. “Girls is my fantasy imagination of what it would be like to be a young person in New York City. It’s provocative, challenging, sexually out there, selfish and fu/king amazing,” she said.

When it comes to drama, Curtis is a fan of Better Call Saul, the prequel to Breaking Bad. She praised the series for living up to the legacy of its predecessor, admitting, “Breaking Bad is a perfect television show. Better Call Saul is a perfect show. But I have to pick one, so I’m going with Better Call Saul.”

Curtis also mentioned shows like Transparent, Shōgun, and Pachinko, demonstrating her wide-ranging taste in television. From historical epics to intimate comedy-dramas, she makes it clear that she enjoys anything that’s well-made and compelling.
