Jennifer Garner has always been known as one of Hollywood’s most relatable moms, but she recently admitted that her children don’t exactly rush to watch her work. The 53-year-old actress revealed that her three kids aren’t huge fans of seeing her on screen, especially in intense or romantic scenes.

Talking about her role in the Apple TV+ mystery series The Last Thing He Told Me, Garner told reporters, “My kids don’t love to watch me in things.” She explained that while her children try to be supportive, it can feel strange for them to see their mom acting out emotional or romantic moments.

“They do try to be supportive, but I think it’s a little weird to watch your mom kiss someone or cry,” she added. Garner’s kids—20-year-old Violet, 17-year-old Fin, and 13-year-old Samuel—seem to have no such hesitation when it comes to watching their father, Ben Affleck.

She noted that they are comfortable watching Affleck’s movies because there’s no maternal awkwardness involved. “They don’t want to see me sad, and they don’t want to see me in a romance,” Garner joked, also noting that they aren’t thrilled to see her playing a mother to other young actors.

Despite their reluctance to watch her on screen, Garner did manage to bond with her middle child, Fin, over the original book by Laura Dave. She recalled reading the novel aloud at bedtime and being drawn in by the story’s super-propulsive nature.

She also found the book’s exploration of non-traditional motherhood explosive, which helped her approach her character, Hannah, in a different way than her real-life parenting. The second season of The Last Thing He Told Me premiered on Apple TV+ on February 20.

The show picks up five years after the events of season one, with Garner returning as Hannah alongside Angourie Rice, who plays her stepdaughter Bailey. Together, they continue to uncover the mystery behind the disappearance of Owen, played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. New episodes are being released every Friday through April 10.

Outside of mystery dramas, Garner is staying busy with comedy projects. She is filming a new Netflix movie called One Attempt Remaining, directed by Kay Cannon. In the romantic comedy, she stars opposite John Cena as an ex-couple who must reunite to recover a cryptocurrency password worth millions.

Garner is also producing the film, marking another collaboration with Netflix following successes like Family Switch and The Adam Project. While Garner balances her busy career in Los Angeles, her ex-husband Ben Affleck continues to stay active in film and television projects of his own.

The pair remains focused on co-parenting their children while managing their busy Hollywood schedules. Jennifer Garner continues to impress fans with her ability to juggle motherhood, acting, and producing. She has shown that even when her kids don’t watch her movies, she remains dedicated to her craft and keeps challenging herself with new projects.
